The most famous food from Guatemala are the tamales. They make the tamales' masa from corn. The salsa they put on it is mademout of chile waque , chil pasa, tomato , anjonjolin, pepitoria. Everything is grilled. Then when everything is made, they put beef or chicken in the masa and drench it with the salsa. They put it in the masa in a banana leaf. After that they put it in aluminum foil and let it cook in boiled water.

Something I learned

Something I learned while doing this project was that there is a big celebration called "Noche Buena" in Guatemala. It is when everyone celebrates on December 24, staying up until 12:00 with fireworks and huge parties. I also learned that I have many family members that live in Guatemala that I did not know about. My grandparents crossed the border with my aunt that I thought was born here but was also born in Guatemala. I learned that instead of celebrating independence day on July 4th , Guatemala celebrates it on September 15th. Also I learned that Guatemala has seven active volcanoes. On December 7, everybody grabs waste such as paper and trash and they burn it. They burn it because they are celebrating a day called Burning of the Devil.
