I have had this aspiration since I was three years old. None of my family or family friends were doctors, so I am unsure what exactly inspired this ambition. When I was three, my love for science was so strong that I used to pretend I was the blood circulating in a body. The living room was the heart, and the hallways were the arteries and veins. That was my idea of pretend play. Whenever I went to the doctor's office or the dentist, I would always ask for gloves because I was obsessed with them. My grandma used to bring me spare medical supplies from her work, and I would use the bandages to wrap my American Girl dolls. In school, I always wrote a doctor, or more specifically a neonatologist (my dream specialty when I was younger), for the "What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up" Question. I practically grew up at the California Science Center, since we went there so often on weekends and school breaks. I was always drawn to their medical exhibits, such as the video of an open heart surgery. During two summers in elementary school, I even went to summer camp there, and studied various topics. In second, third, and fourth grade, I competed in the Science Fair. I won first place for my project in Second Grade. In fifth grade, I did a project on the systems of the human body for the Gifted and Talented Program (GATE). For my sixth grade GATE project, I researched rare diseases. I continued this passion for medicine in junior high school through the Junior Upcoming Medical Professionals (JUMP) Program. This, of course, led to my involvement in the Medical Science Academy. For the past two years, I have been given so many amazing opportunities and gained a plethora of medical knowledge.
