But Mrs. Foster had had enough. She had been waiting for him for thirty years already, and she couldn't keep doing it. 

“Please, no!” she exclaimed, holding his cold gaze. “If you leave the car, I´m leaving you here.”

“No, you won´t,” he laughed, without believing his well-behaved wife would be capable of doing such a thing. “I´ll be back.”

With no hesitation, Mr. Foster opened the door and left the car after sending a threatening look to Mrs. Foster, which she wasn't able to receive due to her eyes being blinded by her out of rage.

As soon as her husband slammed the door, Mrs. Foster glared at the chauffeur. “It's too late. Hurry, driver, hurry!” she demanded, but the confused man stood there in shock. “Don’t just sit there, man. Get going! I’ve got a plane to catch for Paris!”

Following her orders, the chauffeur started the car and began the journey to the airport. Mr. Foster, who was just opening the front door of the house, heard the car´s engine. Realizing his wife had been telling the truth, he ran towards the moving car trying to stop Mrs. Foster, screaming for her to stay. But Mrs. Foster didn´t look back at him once before leaving the tormenting life that she had been living and her abusive husband behind.

Completely assured with her decision, she thought about how this single action had made her feel free, in a way she hasn't felt in all those thirty years living in the house. Looking back at the tedious life she had maintained, she decided she could never come back to it. She saw an opportunity to live the rest of her life happy in Paris with her daughter and grandchildren, and she took it.
