We can see the difference between Joe and Tea Cake, as Tea Cake pays close attention to the clothes of Janie and what makes her beautiful. Where as Joe never showed attention towards what makes Janie beautiful. - This quote shows how Tea Cake is nurturing and really cares about Janie. This is a big contrast towards the way Joe treated her because Tea Cake moved out of the way of his comfort to appreciate Janie, almost making him late for work.
