         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/21pdf/21-463_3ebh.pdf">refused to block</a> a clearly unconstitutional abortion ban in Texas, leaving in place <a href="https://legiscan.com/TX/text/SB8/id/2395961/Texas-2021-SB8-Enrolled.html">S.B. 8</a>, which bans most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. The Court’s ruling substantially narrows options to challenge the law in federal court, and there is no fast option for a Texas Supreme Court ruling in state court, say legal experts.<br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Supreme Court left in place Friday a Texas abortion law that bars the procedure after the first six weeks of pregnancy, but the justices said that abortion providers have the right to challenge the law in federal court.<br><br></div><div><a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/10/politics/read-united-states-texas-abortion/index.html">The court's action</a> means that the case will return to a district court for further proceedings, but it may still be difficult for providers to open their doors again.</div><div>It provides a narrow victory for the abortion clinics, allowing them to get into court. But at the same time, the court limited which state officials could be sued by the providers, which could make it difficult for the providers to resume providing abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy.</div>]]></description>
