Living in Canada all my life has had very many impacts on me. I have a lot more opportunities than people in very many other countries, especially third-world countries. I have clean drinking water available to me almost any time I want it, I have a safe place to sleep, I have an education, and all the facilities that Canada offers. I have had many different surgeries, if I was living in the United States of America, that would have cost us very much money that we do not have, but thanks to Canada’s healthcare I was able to get those surgeries I needed without falling deeper into debt. Another thing that I have noticed is that my non-Canadian friends have told me that I fall into Canadian stereotypes such as being extra nice to strangers, apologizing a lot, and saying “eh” every now and then.

Most of the male members in my family wear cowboy hats. And an even bigger number of members of my family lives at farms, ranches, or small towns. They are very old-fashioned people. My great-grandfather claimed that we were directly related to a western outlaw named Billy the kid and went on an early morning news show and talked about that. I don’t know if I believe that, but I do know that the lifestyle that they live have made a big impact on me. Even though the most of a cowboy I have ever been has been when I played the video-game Red Dead Redemption, there are other aspects where I Have been affected. I’ve grown up around old-fashioned beliefs. Hatred against homosexuality, aboriginal people, and the way that the future is going. It has been very important for me to realize that these things have affected me, and from there I have been very careful with the way that I think and believe things.

Religion is a big part of my life. The household that I have grown up has been one where religion has been promoted as being an important way of life. The only thing that I disagree with my church for is the judgement of all other people. If God created everyone, then I also believe that he would love everyone more than anyone could even imagine. So, for my church to go and judge those people, I find very wrong. Religion has influenced me in more ways other than just needing to believe in God. Praying taught me to be thankful, as well was a good way to get into my mind to realize the things that have been bothering me day to day. Asking for my food to blessed taught me to be thankful. So even if my religious beliefs were to ever change, growing up religiously will remain holding an effect on me. (“Bible,” n.d.)

Music is very important to me. Listening to music, playing music, and writing music are all things that are very meaningful to me in my life. It’s to the point where I literally do not know what I would do without music. I can play both guitar and ukulele. I spend a lot of time listening to music. I enjoy listening to artists that I’ve never heard of before, and there is an almost endless supply of it. Writing music for me is therapeutic, even though nobody sees the songs I write, it helps me as a good way to filter my emotions on to a page. And since its just for me I don’t have to try and worry if my words will be good enough. (“Guitar,” n.d.)

This picture is of a beach. To me a beach represents more then just a place. A beach represents self-care. I can just imagine laying there, sunglasses on, sun glazing against my skin, my toes deep in the warm sand, a slight breeze. That sounds like a pretty good way to practice self-care. Self-care is important for anyone, it doesn’t matter who they are. It is our responsibilities to look after ourselves. Otherwise we will begin to deteriorate, just the same way a car deteriorates if not looked after. (“Beach,” n.d.)

In this picture it shows children from over the world holding hands. I believe that if the world was like this, it would be a much better world to live in. I also think that it needs to go past ethnicity. People of any gender, beliefs, sexuality, appearance, etc. need to share love among one another for the world to be a batter place. This does not mean you have to agree with them, but instead realize that we are all human beings, and that hatred causes nothing but more hatred (“Equality,” October 14, 2016)

To me this picture represents friendships. My friends are very important to me. I have very many friends that I would literally die for. The love that I hold for these people are a big part of what keeps me going. These people are people that have been there for me when I was at my lowest of lows. Equally, I always try my hardest to be there for my friends. Although that I don’t have many friends, and struggle making new friends, the group of friends that I do have are very important to me, and I think that the fact that I don’t have as many friends, makes my friendships even more meaningful and more personal. In this case it is very true. I love Angel and Willow very much. They are always there to love me, and they really do just love me so much. It is nice to be able to come home after a long and difficult day and be able to cuddle up with them. They are there to love me even if I mess up, they won’t care.
Quote

“As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands: One for helping yourself, the other for helping others.” – Audery Hepburn. I had not heard this quote before starting this project. And once I started this project, I really struggled to find a quote that I truly agreed with. This quote may be simple and broad, but I think that causes it to mean a lot more. It is just so true, there is always the ability to help others. There are also so many people that either do not realize this fact or just choose to completely ignore it. If everybody decided to live this way, the world would become very divided, and eventually lead to chaos. I personally, even from my younger days in daycare, have always found myself trying to help other people. I wish that everyone in the world held helping other people to a higher importance in their lives. (“Helping Others,” n.d.)

In the picture it shows one person giving a hand to another person climbing up a mountain. I think this is a good representation on how it is that I want to be a helper. If the man giving the hand was doing all the work to lift, it would be too heavy, and he could not be expected to lift the other person the rest of the mountain. When I am a social worker, I will not be able to be the only person doing all the work, no matter how hard I tried, it would not be good enough, and would be unhealthy for both me and the client.
