- Fiefs: Estates that Lords divided their lands into.
- Knight's Ethic Code: Honesty, fairness in battle, loyalty, & proper treatment of women.
- Proper Treatment of Women: "Ladies first", open doors for women, walk on outside of sidewalk, etc.
- Manorial System: An economic system in the Middle Ages that was built around large estates called manors; included a village and the land surrounding it.
- Serfs: Peasants who lived and worked on the lord's manor.

- The Feudal Contract: Unwritten rules that determined the relationship between a lord and his vassal.
- Vassals to Lords: Military Service (usually about 40 days per year), Loyalty
- Lords to Vassals: Land
- Fiefs were given to vassals
- People were granted land in return for loyalty and/or military service
- All nobles were vassals to the king
- Knights Role: Protected lord's land, given land for their services, chivalry, must provide military service, remain loyal and faithful to lord, give money to lord on special occasions.
- Lord's to Knights: Give land, protect from attack, resolve knight disputes.
- Manors were self sufficient. You never had to leave.
- Serfs were not allowed to leave the manor or marry without the lord's permission, but were allowed to farm on the manor in return for work.
- Serfs worked long hours, hardly lived passed 35 years, and if your parents were a serf, you were.
