I will most definitely miss the mytholocution, your stories, the plays, and all the fun we had together. You were a great teacher, you made the lessons fun and you’ve inspired us to be closer to God. When I started here in grade 3, I saw you as a strict teacher and was (kind of) worried. I would see you from the windows and was very scared. I would look at the cover of the book because I wasn't your teacher back then. But right when we met, I saw the pages of that once strict-looking teacher! She was kind, supportive, and motivating.

The only memories we have are the ones right now and before in grade 4. I've only had a year and 3 months with you, but I'll definitely try to remember this year and last year with you.

Dear Teacher Vivian,

It was just an ordinary day, and I decided to say hi to one of my friends from TLT. In response to my greeting, he gave me an awfully cold reply.

"I heard Teacher Vivian passed away."

I, well, I was in complete disbelief. I scrambled to my keyboard and tried to check your Facebook. And-- it was true. The beloved grade school English teacher of TLT had just passed away that morning. I couldn't express how overwhelmed I was feeling.

Soon enough, everyone from TLT had known what happened. Everyone, like me, was shocked and confused. I suggested to a few friends that we make a tribute of sorts, and now, here we are, with this Padlet.

I'd also like to say two more words to you, Teacher Vivian.

THANK YOU!
- Thank you for being one of the best storytellers ever. Before, as soon as class ended, I would go on and on, telling my parents about the stories from you I learned that day.

- Thank you for your entertaining and witty plays. For sure, I'll never forget the musical Joseph the Dreamer thanks to the experience I had there.

- Thank you for introducing TLT to the Mytholocution. It was a way for 6th graders to show their talents in writing, acting, and presenting. Although I panicked a lot before presenting my speech, I remembered that everyone (Especially you, Teacher) was confident in me, and I was able to pull it off!

- Thank you for being forgiving, Teacher. We’re sorry that we were unruly and unbehaved sometimes (I came from the Anislag class you "hated" with a passion), but every, single, time, you forgave us.

- Thank you for being such a supportive and affectionate teacher. I may not have been part of those who partook in the one-on-one sessions, but it showed how much you cared for each and every student you had. You loved each of us dearly, Teacher, with your affectionate nicknames and teases.

We love you too, a lot. So, I, on behalf of the entire school, would like to say thank you, for being one of the greatest teachers we've ever had.

No, I am not crying while typing this. Okay, maybe I am but I would just like to say THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for everything Teacher Vivian. Our beloved Grade 5 & 6 English teacher, T. Vivian,

In times of stress and trouble, you would be there for me. When I was timid to volunteer during class, you'd call my name so that I could show how confident I am. You gave me tips on how to improve myself and taught my batch the holocaust, ragpicker, mythology, and more fun stories and lovely songs. I loved how you stroke your guitar gently and started playing various songs. You would pray po for each and every one of us when we face rough times. I still continue adding bible verse to my "medicine cabinet" and it really helps! I miss the English lessons you would teach my batch and I. I also miss the time my batch performed the Christmas play in 5th grade. There are a lot more moments I could remember but overall, thank you so much❤. Dear Teacher Vivian and your family,

Teacher Vivian was the best teacher anyone could ask for. She was like a second mom to us. She inspired us, cared for us, was always patient with us, made us laugh so hard with the stories she would tell us and so much more. I was always exited for English class because of you. Dear Teacher Vivian, thank you for everything you have done with us. Thank you for being everyone's second mom. I hope you know how much everybody cares about you and how much they love you. I've only known you for around 2 years and a half, but you have been an important part of my life. Another thing is despite you being so old you were also so young in a way. I didn't even get to see you face to face. Only when I was in grade 3, I would pass by you and say hi, thinking that you were a strict teacher. I'm gonna be honest but I was pretty scared XD

Dear T. Vivian,

Thank you so much for showing me the bright and colorful side of my school life. Your time on Earth made me feel like a grandson to you, more so than just a regular student. I will surely remember our stories, our play, the Mytholocution, and all the lessons you taught us, and so much so, that no one will ever replace your kindness, grace and wisdom. I hope your ascension back to God will be as worth it as teaching us, all those school years ago. Even though T. Laarnie is our new English teacher in High School, deep down, I assure that there's no other teacher like you, and that is why God loves you so much, as we, as your students, love you ever so dearly.

Sad it must be, to hear that you've passed on, but I'm sure that God has set up a new home for you on Heaven, who knows, maybe even set up a heavenly school for you. But, even then, we'll still miss you, teach, but you'll always be with us, and your memories.

Dear Teacher Vivian,
I wished you would've seen this.
Thank you for teaching our class in English, and for a lot. Back then when I was in the lower grades, I would often hear the 6th graders practicing their speeches for Mytholocution, and with you judging them. When 5th grade came, and you were the class adviser for our class, English was one of the most memorable classes I had during that time. Your ability to laugh along with our jokes and teaching us very well made English always entertaining. Not to mention you always told us stories of when you were younger and when you lived in Japan, which were very nice. Another memorable time is when we staged "What Really Happened to Joseph" for the HELE Bazaar. When I was chosen for the role of Pharaoh, I was surprised. I had never done a role in which the character was a powerful ruler. In fact, I thought to role didn't suit me, for I wasn't the best when it came to acting kingly and confident on stage. But, with your advice to act like I always do in school, as you put it " like you're rich. handsome, and confident", I managed to pull it off. Then after that, came the pandemic. Just when I was excited that I was going to be in Grade 6, and that I can now participate in the Mytholocution. Even though we were apart, classes were still very entertaining. When Mytholocution came, I was nervous. I thought that if I blundered while talking, it would be the end. But your reminder for my acting for the play still stuck, and I managed to pull it off, not to mention ending up on the podium. I have to say, Mytholocution was one of my most memorable experiences with you. Little did I know it would be the last. You were an amazing and kind teacher. You were very inspiring and caring, and I'm sure my classmates feel the same. You helped us a lot. If there's one thing that I'm sure about, I'm sure that you, Teacher Vivian, were the best teacher I have ever had.

Dear T. Vivian,

I still remember 5th and 6th grade as clear as day. I remember when we would all know when you were coming to class because you would always ask someone to bring your red basket in beforehand. I remember you teaching us how to diagram. I remember you teaching us songs for our play. I remember your many testimonies of Gods grace in your life. I remember all the stories you would tell us about your younger self and all the lessons that you've learned through life. I remember so much of your lessons and classes because you were such an amazing, one-of-a-kind teacher.

When I joined my first ever English class for this school year, I was hoping to hear your voice say "Good afternoon Kai" with the change of sound that you always added to my name but alas it never came. And it never will come again. I was so excited for the pandemic to end so I could visit you and all of our teachers in the new TLT building. But I'll never be able to visit you now that you're up in Heaven, so I can only thank you.

Thank you for being an amazing teacher. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many of your students. Thank you for teaching us to the best of your abilities. Thank you for loving us with all your heart. Thank you for the stories, whether it be funny, sad, happy, or even horror. Thank you for making us laugh during class. Dear Teacher Vivian,
Thank you so much for believing in me in my story(s) that I have written. You had read my first-ever book that I had fully finished in grade 4, and you enjoyed it! I thank God that you were my teacher last year.
At your classes, you have made it as exciting as possible for us by teaching in exciting and in amazing ways!

Since I’m new to TLT and this is the first year that we have met as my adviser and
English teacher, I really appreciate the kindness that you have shown to us. Though it may seem short, the two months that we have been together was very meaningful. Dear teacher Vivian, thank you for making my school life a very fun and joyful experience. I really miss how you tell your stories and how you teach. You understand us and always listen to us whenever we want to express our feelings. Thank you for being there by my side, thank you for comforting me when I needed someone. Dear Teacher Vivian, I definitely speak for all of us when I say we wish you were here. One day you were teaching us, making us laugh and teaching the class with banter and witty remarks. And the next...well, you were gone. You left behind such a legacy when you left us. You will go down in history as the best English teacher ever. That was definitely how I saw you, even if it was only for a few weeks. Before the pandemic, during school hours, I would hear the upper graders who were in your class say how great a teacher you were. About how strongly you encouraged them to become the best they could possibly be. They would tell stories about you. And I would pass by the hallways and see your kind face, your benevolent smile, and I would see how you talked to other students With compassion and care and always with a glittering smile. So for many years, I dreamt about getting in your class, about finally meeting the great Teacher Vivian, the one that everyone praised and adored and loved. And I was ecstatic when I got the email saying I was in your class. I practically jumped around my room. This was because when the lockdown was implemented, and online school started, I was a bit downcast at having to spend such precious knowledgeable hours online. So the only thing that practically kept me through fourth grade was the hope of getting into your class the next year. I wanted something to look forward to when I woke up in the morning, something to think of that would make me smile before class everyday. And that was the thought of how lucky I was to be in a class with the greatest English teacher in the school. The first days of school in your class were exactly how I imagined they would be. Except for the fact that it was online. You taught with that same passionate and kind disposition that I saw all throughout lower grade elementary. And during that time, I was happy. I went through all of my classes with a big smile on my face, knowing that in the next hour or so, I would be in the same Zoom classroom as you. And then came that day. It was my birthday, and the entire family was celebrating. There was ice cream and cake and balloons and presents. The clouds were kind enough to part and show the sun. My mom's phone was bursting with greetings for me, and while I was going through them, I saw four words that would leave a black mark on my heart forever. "Teacher Vivian passed away." I couldn't believe it. At first, I thought it was some joke, some prank the lower graders were trying to pull, so I frantically searched through every text message I could find with your name. And when I realised it was true, the whole world turned bleak in that moment. The sun stopped shining, and I could no longer smell the sweet and comforting aroma of the sweets. In that moment, my whole world turned around. Teacher Vivian was gone. The teacher that I had waited for so long to meet and be with wasn't here anymore. And to top it all off, the day she died was the same date as the day I was born. I could've just screamed at the irony of it all. The next few days were bleak, and all I could think about was the feeling of my stomach and heart dropping when I read that message. In fact, that's what I'm feeling right now, but it feels prolonged, as if the entire world knows that these miserable and dejected words is meant for you, the greatest teacher I have ever had. A lot of the students are saying that you will always leave a hole in their hearts, but for me, it's much bigger than that. For me, it will always feel as of there's something ripping or tearing at my chest whenever I think of you. What I'm really trying to say, and what all these depressed and cramped words are trying to add up to are the words Thank You. Thank You so much, Teacher Vivian, for being the greatest teacher I have ever had the privilege of meeting, if only for a few weeks. Goodbye, teacher Vivian.

It's 2022 now po, I am in high school and I hope I can make you proud. I wish I could've properly met you in class, I wish you could've been there for our Mytholocution, I wish you were here to tell us your amazing stories and I wish you were still here today alive and well. But I know that no matter how many wishes I make, they can't bring you back. As much as it pains me to say it, you're gone forever and I can't do anything about it except for writing for you. But that doesn't have to make it sad, you were very sick here on Earth before the Lord took you but now you are in peace. I know that you are up there in Heaven, happy and healthy and with those you love so I'll try not to cry and I'll use everything you taught me to live a happy life.
