Aibileen- The Care Giver
I think Aibileen is the caregiver in the novel because she is a character who supports others and makes sacrifices on their behalf. For example when Aibileen states, "I got to be the one who's strong. I got to keep my friend from losing it." (The Help, 195). This quote shows that Aibileen is compassionate and cares for her friends.

Minny- The Everyman
I think Minny is the everyman in The Help because she is a relatable character, she acts strong yet she is scared of many things. She is scared of getting outed and getting executed for her ideals and beliefs, and her kids will have to grow up without their mom. I think many characters in The Help feel similarly to Minny.

Skeeter- The Outlaw
I think Skeeter is the outlaw of the novel, as she wants to create changes, she wants to change society's perspective on black people. She believes that white and black people can live together in harmony.

- Iqra

1. Minny can be characterised as the outlaw archetype, the outlaw archetype is defined as "The rebel who won’t abide by society’s demands." In "The Help", during the 1960s, black maids are expected to be obedieint towards the white families. Minny is known for her outspokeness and her bravery to stand up for her own rights, she is different from the other typical black maids since is not afraid to speak up against her white employer despite facing an enormous risk of losing her job.

2. Aibileen can be charaterized as the caregiver archetype, the charegiver archetype is defined as "A character who continually supports others and makes sacrifices on their behalf." She shows a lot of caring and kindness towards her employer's daughter, Mae Mobley, raising and adoring her as her own child. Also, she is a supportive friend as we can see how she took a huge risk inorder to get Minny employed again.

3. Miss Skeeter can be characterized as the hero archetype, because during the 1960s, no one really has the bravery and coruage to stand up for the rights for black maids. However, in "The Help", she decided to writre a book dedicating to the maids, which will be describing how black maids feel as they work for the white families based on their own perspective. This is a really courageous move.

Aibileen: The Caregiver and The Sage, Aibileen fits perfectly into the mold of the Caregiver and Sage archetype. She's soft spoken, kind, motherly and with her age came understanding of world and wisdom. When she had to leave school at 14 she was sad but understanding she quickly adapted into her role as a mammy by putting her down and working. She doesn't often question things (though she's bothered by it) and she was very hesitant to agree to Miss Skeeters Idea.

Miss Skeeter: Miss Skeeter is a lot harder to put into a box but I guess you could call her mixture of The Everyman and The Explorer. She is ambitious and wants to her way around the world and her desire to become a journalist branches from her desire tell stories and seek the truth (curiosity). She is also grounded and self aware she understands and is aware of short comings and her place in the world. Naviety is also trait that Miss Skeeter has but is not something that usually falls into these archetypes. She owes naviety to lack of understanding of how much danger she's really putting the maids, she doesn't fully understand the gravity the situation cause she doesn't really (fully) the struggles coloured go through everyday.

Minny: Minny I think fits the archetype of The Outlaw she's speaks her mind with no filter and is as sassy as they come, not a trait that is beneficial to someone working as a maid in the 1960s. She's different from the other maids because she's more vocal about things she doesn't apperciate.

The Jester: Minny
Because many of Minny's profoundly humorous observations frequently have deeper meanings regarding how she feels about the treatment of the maids, which helps many other characters in the book identify with Minny, I believe she fits the description of "The Jester." Though she makes a very meager living and is frequently silenced for her opinions and beliefs, Minny can also be seen as obnoxious at times but never superficial in keeping with The Jester archetype.
The Ruler: Hilly
In the movie "The Help," Hilly's authority and sway over the residents of Jackson are subtly highlighted. She exudes confidence, enjoys a high social status, and has access to a range of resources, making her someone you wouldn't want to cross. It is obvious from the assertive language that she indirectly controls others. This power is apparent through Ms. Leefolt.
The Care Giver: Aibileen
I think Aibileen fulfills the role of the caretaker in the story because she is a character who stands up for others and makes accommodations on their behalf. For example, Aibileen claims, "I have to be the courageous one. I had to do it to keep my friend from losing it." (195; The Help) In this passage, Aibileen expresses her concern and empathy for her traveling companions.

The Sage: Aibileen
One of the key main characters, Aibileen, represents the character archetype of the sage: a wise, commonly old and experienced mother figure who provides insightfulness and guides those around her, such as Minny and Skeeter. She is selfless in her actions as well as cautious and carefully around those of white society who may intrude or negatively impact her, evident from her thoughts and actions towards Hilly.

The Ruler: Hilly
'The Help' subtlety places emphasis on the power and control the character of Hilly has upon the community of Jackson. Being confident, high in status and attaining variety of resources, she is a person who you would not want to be on the wrong side off. Evident from her forceful language, she has a indirect power over people. This power is evident through Ms Leefolt.

The Outlaw: Minny

Minny represents the outlaw of this novel, a person who challenges injustice and authority in order to stand up for their own beliefs. She often falls into trouble for her rebellious behaviour, evident from her uneasy relationship with Ms Hilly. Unlike most African-American characters who possess a quiet and submissive, Minny is outspoken, confident and at a continuous war with those around her.

Aibileen - The Sage
In the article, the sage is described as someone wise, experienced and insightful, but also cautious and 'hesitant to join the action'. These traits apply to Aibileen as she is very experienced in working as a maid and raising children, and provides a lot of helpful insight to Miss Skeeter (specifically about the Ms. Myrna letters). In The Help, Aibileen is hesitant to help Skeeter with her project, and is cautious about what might happen to her if she contributes.

Mae Mobley - The Innocent
In the book, Mae Mobley shows love and kindness towards Aibileen and wants to use Aibileen's toilet instead of the toilet intended for white people. Mae Mobley is very young so does not yet have a negative standpoint or views, which shows that she is this innocent archetype.

Skeeter - The Outlaw
Skeeter has a very independent mindset that is unlike her friends, Hilly and Elizabeth. She disagrees with society's segregation and racist ideas and really wants to make a change.

- Jemima

Minny is the jester.
I believe Minny matches the title of "The Jester" because her comedic relief comes from some of her truly funny insights, which sometimes have deeper connotations about how she feels about the treatment of the maids, allowing many other characters in the novel to sympathise with Minny. However, in line with The Jester character, Minny may be unpleasant at times but never superficial because she makes a pittance and is regularly silenced for her thoughts and convictions.

Hilly is the ruler.
The film "The Help" gently highlights Hilly's power and influence on the inhabitants of Jackson. This power is manifested via Ms. Leefolt.

I believe Aibileen serves as the caregiver in the narrative because she is a character who helps others and makes concessions on their behalf.

Minny- The Jester
Minny is constantly described as the 'sassy' character who can't keep her mouth shut and says the wrong things in a certain situation, hence being fired from so many jobs. She provides the comic relief from these remarks as they are often quite funny and sarcastic. In line with the Jester she has also said some important truths like telling Celia about the Terrible Awful and also by making the sacrifice of putting the Terrible Awful in the book because she knew of the consequences if someone found out.

Aibileen- The Sage
Throughout the book one of the main characters that others seem to look up to is Aibileen. She is the kind, old, and wise character that others seem to look for for advise. Minny is often seen at Aibileen's house if she needs guidance and Aibileen is there to provide it. Like when Minny needed help with her situation with Leroy she came to Aibileen to help and Aibileen did. Mae Mobley also looks up to Aibileen as a Mother figure more so than her mother ans trusts everything Aibileen says or does. Skeeter has also relied on Aibileen for help on some occasions when hiding the book got tough.

Hilly- The Ruler
Hilly is the one figure in the book who constantly seems to have more power over anyone in the whole book no matter what happens. She wields power by using her race, being white, to be unjustly unfair to the minority because it is known in 1960s Mississippi that there is definitely only one superior race. She has several connections to all kinds of people and is not afraid to lie and blackmail to get what she wants, which she often does. As a result of this she is often 'out of touch' as no one matches her rank or status which is in line with the Ruler archetype.

Aibileen - Caregiver
Aibileen is definitely the caregiver as she is extremely soft and comforting as a person. You can see this play out when she takes care of Mae Mobley. She is so soft spoken and gentle with her, as she is with most people.

Skeeter - Outlaw
I think Skeeter is difficult to place into a category but she would be best fit as the outlaw. She breaks societal expectations and refuses to fit into stereotypes. She goes against the law to try and help coloured people and give them more rights.
Minny - Jester and Outlaw
Minny would fit the role of the Jester as her comedic relief roots from her treatment as the help. She can be quite obnoxious and loud and doesn't hesitate to speak her mind even though coloured people were not allowed to do so. She would also fit the role of the outlaw based on these examples.

Minny the Jester: Minny's dialogues due to her comedic reliefs throughout the book, even in the most intense of situations. She is willing, almost enthusiasitic to speak the truth without a second thought. She also follows her insticts and is often impulsive, as seen by her constantly getting fired. She's not very disarming though, she often recieves more hostility than other equivalent maids.

Aibileen the Caregiver: She is loved by many of her peers and even the white baby Mae Mobley. She dropped out of school to provide for her family which is a symbol of selflessness, an important trait for The Caregiver. She teaches the kids that she raises that skin colour should not be a restricting factor when it comes to love.

Skeeter the Outlaw: Skeeter's mother wants her to be a an obedient wife, but desires to be a writer.
