APUSH is without a doubt one of my favorite classes i’ve taken throughout highschool! Not only did i have a blast, but i actually learned so much material that makes senior year civics such a breeze. Although the class itself is challenging, the support from your teachers and your classmates makes it feel like you’re not even taking an AP! Because it’s a yearlong class, you’ll grow so close to all the kids in your class and make a ton of new friends as well. Mrs. Maneevone makes the material fresh and interesting through creative ways of teaching, and the class will fit your needs whether you’re a lecture learner or an interactive learner.

Do yourself a favor and take APUSH!

APUSH is definitely a must-take class in high-school. Not only do you get to learn the history about our country, but also receive college credit for it too. On top of that, Mrs. Mannevone is an amazing teacher! She even won Teacher of the Year last year (2021). This class isn't easy, but it will definitely help you in the long run as you develop better study habits and better writing techniques. And if you do bad on a test/quiz, don't worry about it. There are plenty of extra credit opportunities so you can always bounce back.

This was my first AP class and I love it! I was scared to take an AP, but this class is really enjoyable! It was a little challenging at first, but I got the hang of it. Learning about the history of our country is so interesting, and this class makes it so fun.

APUSH is a class that everyone should take. It's fairly easy and interesting. You get to learn all the good and the bad of our country's history in a fun way with the best teacher ever. I've been lucky enough to have two teacher of the years in a row and Mrs. Maneevone certainly deserves it. This class is very enlightening and not too intensive to the point it makes me scream like some of my other classes. If your worried about your grade, don't. As long as you do your work you'll do fine. I know everyone says that for every AP class but it's actually true for this one haha.

First off, Mrs. Mannevone makes the learning in this class super fun! Hands on and personalized learning that everyone can enjoy! (no wonder she won teacher of the year!!) But also since it is a year long class you make amazing connections and friendships with your classmates!! People i met in APUSH are still my best friends today (and i’m about to graduate!!).

APUSH is fascinating because you learn how to make insightful connections across different time periods and it’s really cool to see how history fits together like a puzzle. This class really helped me with time management and studying because you learn how to get through a lot of content. Mrs.$1 does an amazing job making the class fun; she uses so many platforms to keep the class engaged and she always mixes it up so we don’t get bored. She’s truly an amazing teacher and you’d be lucky to have her!! Do yourself a favor and take APUSH!

We are currently living in one of the most polarized times of our nation and US history a major reason why. It may be a cliche to say “history repeats itself” but after you take this class you may begin to realize why that’s so true. You will come to find during the class and even after there is a cycle to the way people go about creating change and why those actions are necessary. We are all living in a very pivotal point in our history and it’s important to have an understanding of the past for us to learn how to better move forward. Many of us have already been engaging in high school conversations about modern day American issues, and taking APUSH will help you walk into these conversations educated about how these issues came about, and what we can do to solve them. This class is enriching and teaches you writing, critical thinking, research, and analyzing skills. If you’re reading this padlet then you already know how great of a teacher Mrs. Maneevone is, and that alone can be a major reason to take this class 😎. Mrs. Maneevone is a very special history teacher. The parts of the textbook that were left out like Native American History (just to name one) she addresses because there is great value to seeing perspectives from people other than Americans. In this way, she taught me there are more voices in US history than just the American voice, a lesson that couldn’t be more inherent in our current society.
Take this class because being a student is not just about getting the credits, it’s about LEARNING! 😁

Mrs. $1 is literally one of the best teachers at this school. Even when COVID placed many challenges on the road, $1 tackled them and gave us, the students, a wonderful experience of APUSH. It's so interesting to learn history in the way $1 teaches it, and you'll be super prepared for the AP test!

APUSH is personally one of the only AP classes that is actually fun to take because not only are you learning new things in that class, Ms. $1 teaches really well, and she's a very understanding and outgoing teacher. I suggest if you ever plan on taking this class, the more interest you have in U.S History, the more you'll enjoy taking it.

History is an important subject, it teaches us to not make the same mistakes. Learning about your government is also important, and sure that could be learned in AP Gov, but APUSH gives you the background knowledge of why the stuff exists, what it is, and why we shouldn't do x, y, and z, etc. When you learn about your government, it lets you help your country and fellow citizens; when you're voting in an election, you won't be blindly choosing because you'll now know what the stuff is and what it means. If you're interested in law, you should take APUSH to see if it's something you want to continue. It's definitely a challenge, but now you'll have experience in an AP class which will set you up for AP classes in the future. Don't take this class if you don't absolutely love US History or if you're not willing to put the effort into it because yeah, this will boost your GPA, but if you're not going to study or try then it'll lower it. $1 also has epic study tips you should consider trying (you can apply them to other classes too!). Best of luck to those interested, you'll do great!

You are living in the United States, so why not learn about the country and important details about our past and how the country works as well. Ms. $1 is a great teacher and this may be an AP class but it is one of the best in my opinion. Just saying, even online the class is fun so just imagine how fun it would be in person, the projects, discussions and friendly environment in the class makes it special.

First off, if you've done APEC, the concepts in APUSH are WAYYY easier. It's a manageable class and a must-take. Just read the chapter and do the work and bam GPA boost. Also, this class has a ton of skills that are helpful in other classes, such as document analysis (transfers over to APEL). Please take it. Also, Mrs.Mannevone is an absolute legend with the amount of extra credit she gives. DO APUSH!

A Deeper Understanding

I took it because I wanted to learn more about history (mainly mid to late 20th century) so that I can be more aware of events that are discussed in politics and in the news. I was not satisfied with the depth of events learned in US History and wanted to delve deeper into these topics.

I definitely improved on my writing and reading comprehension skills of historical documents. I would definitely recommend this class to other students if they believe that the workload will not be too much.

The class is really well paced and you learn a lot about American history. Not just dates and random facts, but you get to see how one event leads to another and how it impacted the culture and the government. We still see some of those impacts today so it's important to learn about this stuff. Plus $1 is the best and most enthusiastic teacher ever. The information we learn makes everything on the news make sense; it expands your knowledge by so much. It is a really interesting class and one really big plus is you get so much practice reading old documents so classes like APEL and SAT passages are a lot easier.

I have always loved history and learning why things happen the way they do in this country. APUSH has not only bettered my understanding of history, but forced me to think deeper about perspective, and how the time period or biases of the time effect certain laws or actions of historical figures/the government. Also, the added boost to my GPA was a nice touch.

i literally love this class so much. if you've taken APEC or any other AP history in the past, APUSH should be an immediate yes. you probably already know to write DBQs, SAQs, and all the other things on the AP exam so you can just focus on understanding content. just don't slack off on work and you're all set. i'm not even a big history person but this year was so interesting. you learn so much about how our nation came to be and it's not just random facts that you have to memorize. you study major events and how they have impacted various different cultures and the government to this day. we also play games and have class discussions so you're not doing work the whole time. also ms. Maneevone really cares about student feedback and tries her best to make lessons effective for everyone. she's super passionate about teaching and truly wants all her students to succeed. an added bonus is that $1 is chill, funny, and there to answer all of your questions. she even won Teacher of the Year 2021! plus who doesn't want a GPA boost 😎 take APUSH!!

I learned a lot of things in this class. You don't only get to know when things happen, but why and how they lead to the next part in history which I find very interesting. I also learned stuff that I didn't know about certain events and people. This class is hard but if you study, you should be all right. Some advice that I want to give is about the writing stuff. Just make sure to study the causes and effects of the events so that it's much easier to write out your response if it says to evaluate. And make sure to read the AMSCO book for info, it really helps. Also, Ms. $1 is a very supportive teacher and she'll help you out if have a question. All in all, this is a very interesting class that can help you further understand the US.

This class makes sure you understand the United States, and why we do some of the things we do as a country. Before this class I was like eh why even bother: Let the Social Studies ppl indulge in this kind of stuff. I only took this class because I promised $1 I would. After taking this class I have understood why this is such an important class, and why our school requires history. I already made the mistake of not taking APEC, but I am so lucky that I didn't take this class. APEC is still eh cuz its Europe but like I would be such a worse off person had I not taken this class. I say that this should be Mandatory because I feel like I have learned many skills that will help me become a responsible citizen and a responsible voter. Our School requires you to take US History, but I have my doubts about how much US History you can learn in 2 quarters. As far as the skillz I was talking about you learn very important Historical Analysis skillz, and helps you look at important events from an analytical point of view. As I kind of already mentioned this class helped me develop a better political standpoint because before I did not really understand what has happened in our history and the impact, some events have left on the United States. It is important to understand the mistakes we have made in the past and how to avoid them in the future. The only downside of the course material is that it does not go much into the 80s and 90s which I was really excited about but you are probably going to end up learning about it on your own(because you will be so interested).
As far a the class is concerned, it would be not half as good without a good teacher, but $1 is absolutely amazing. We barely have any annoying homework, and we get to do most of it as a group which makes it fun and easy. The tests can be hard but they prepare us for the AP test, and $1 gives a ton of AP tests, which helps cushion our grades. $1 is very nice, fun, and understanding and she is always there to help you, and her assignments always help you get a good grasp of US History. The worst part about APUSH for me is that it is 4th period and I have to sit through a lot of nonsense before I can finally attend this class. It is also a GPA booster. Finally, if you do not take this class and I find out I will personally come down and hunt you(I have already hunted down some people who aren't taking this class my year). I am so glad I took this class, I would not even have known how much of a better citizen I would have been without this class.

This class is one of the most exciting classes I've taken so far at RBHS, and gives a lot of credit too. If you are looking at taking history in general, I would highly recommend taking APUSH (especially if you've taken APEC as well). Learning about history, specifically American history will help you make connections to current day topics and eliminates a lot of college courses already. Even though it may be a challenge at times, the struggle is worth it, especially if you pass the test. Both teachers (especially $1) will prepare you to the best of their ability for the AP Test, and by the end of the year, you won't have a single worry about it. Plus, you will meet an amazing group of people in your APUSH group, since your there with them all year long :)

Because you develop a good bond with alot of classmates since you're with the majority of your peers for an entire year. And plus, many of the projects and assignments are fun and creative!

This class honestly is not extremely difficult if you are attentive and apply yourself. It's super informative and fun. I think no matter what you want to do in college or in your future APUSH is still a great class to take and it's a great GPA boost.

This class teaches you a lot about how the U.S. became the U.S. it is today, and that you should use class time effectively. APUSH is way more interesting than I thought, and a lot less date memorizing than I expected. The homework load is reasonable and the teachers are nice. Take the class - even if you think you don't like history it could change your mind :)

You'll learn how to write with good structure and analyze information quickly. There are long essay questions, short answer questions, and discussion based questions, which are some essential writing skills you'll need for college and etc.

It is very interactive and I found that the information learned in this course has helped me with APEL and understanding other references that I hear in movies, books, and conversations. The class is really good if you want a better understanding of American history, especially if you take American Literature or APEL congruently, because a lot of the same figures pop up. In APEL right now we’re analyzing a Johnathan Edwards Speech we learned about in APUSH, and that background knowledge is a good connection to help understand the text. The workload is 100% manageable too, most of the homework can be accomplished in class or very quickly at home, so it’s a great AP to take with other classes which have a large amount of homework.

APUSH is one of the best shows I have ever read. The writers of APUSH are very skilled at writing, the stories and characters they wrote are very iconic. For example, when Alexander Hamilton says "It's Hamil' Time" and establishes his financial system was iconic and they included it in the musical based off of an APUSH chapter. Each chapter follows a different storyline of character or event and every time it is something new, even when they repeat plot beats. They have established strong characters like Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, and Woodrow Wilson (AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ROSA PARKS) during certain arcs. They have great story arcs like the Civil War arc and Revolution arc. They do have some boring chapters though that don't really progress the story or have interesting characters. But overall, I find the story of APUSH to be a compelling one, with several interesting and complex characters (Civil War Arc goes hard!!!), as well as some great action during the war arcs. 5/5 would reccomend

My Thoughts About APUSH

Let me just preface this by saying I am not someone who really enjoys history. Going into APUSH, I thought I would be bored out of my mind listening to a teacher drone on and on and on about topics I had no interest in.

I quickly learned that this was false. From day one, Mrs. Maneevone made learning history one of the most enjoyable classroom experiences this year. The tests, quizzes, and writing assignments are difficult, no doubt, but the classroom goal seems to always be learning about the history rather than achieving any particular score and that is certainly motivational.

Through APUSH, I have changed my perspective about learning history. Although it may not be as enjoyable as science or math, I now appreciate the value in understanding the mistakes of history. I can now recognize some of the continuities and changes of America throughout time. When listening to politicians speak, I can understand the history their policies, and recognize the fears and prejudices that they speak to.

Take APUSH. You won't regret it.

APUSH is a very informative class and will educate you about the biggest points in history. APUSH is one of the harder AP classes but for the work that is given it isn't as bad as you think. I don't really like learning history in school since it usually is really boring and the teachers just tend to ramble on. This class is different. The things I learned in this class can actually be applied to real life and made me more grateful for the rights I have now that I understand how I got them. Maneevone is also a really good teacher that never rambled too much and even made the class funny. I'd say everyone should take this class since it divides understanding of our history and can help us make more informed decisions when voting and in everyday life.
