I took a recent photo of the coat section of my wardrobe. Living in London, I think it's important to have a well stocked raincoat section. The second item from the left which is a coat I bought in Japan for roughly £25 is the one I wear most often (on a daily basis) because it was cheap and stylish so I wouldn't feel bad if it got dirty. I hold the most sentimental value to the left most item as it's the one and only time I've ever purchased a luxury item for myself.

What I like about 2 items in this section of my wardrobe are that the middle 2 items are from a second hand shop. I like to visit these shops to re-use items so that I'm not always purchasing new when these gently used goods are just as good.

I've decided to look at my summer wardrobe. After grouping my items together, I've realised my purchasing habits have not changed that much in the past 10 years. My oldest item dates from 2007 and is an embroidered Mexican blouse I bought in Mexico City. My most expensive is a floral dress which cost me £90 purchased in 2012. The items which hold most value are the ones which remind me of an event/occasion. So after time it's no longer solely about the cost. My worst habit is most probably my t-shirt buying as bar 3 t-shirts, all the others were purchased in 2018!

Muy wardrobe

I don’t have a chance to take a picture to my wardrobe as I am not at home right not and I have to admit they living in an small apartament in the city I have seasonal clothes at home and the rest at my parents home.

Inside my closet I have items from 1998 (when I was 10) to ítems from 2019 that I have just bought. Working on this si have realized I have bought more than 10 items during first months of the year.

I have clear what is what I wear more often: my Levis black jeans, my leather black jacket and my white t-shirts.

The most expensive items that I have not counting the jewelry are a classic Furla bag, which I have to admit I don’t use as much as I expected, and a classic black jacket from Maje that I can’t stop wearing. The most emotional item would be jewelry: a ring my parents gave me when I finish university (familiar tradition) and something similar to a wedding ring.

The picture is of the winter wardrobe that is what I have now. Approximately among jerseys, shirts, skirts, dresses, shirts, jeans and coats I have about 100-120 items. Between boots and shoes I have about 15 pairs.

It would take me a long time to point out when and where I acquired each garment, but I can say that most of them I bought and another part is inherited. I also have clothes of this year as well as past seasons. I estimate that the clothes last me in the wardrobe for about 3-5 years, depending of course on the quality of the item. I'm still changing my buying habits and I'm buying less and better (more expensive normally). You end up saving money and have good quality clothes that last many more years and do not fall into consumerism.

Regarding the personal reflection on my wardrobe:

-The items that I wear the most are jeans, and jackets. I also wear a lot of basic knit jackets and sports clothes (I think what all these garments share is FUNCTIONALITY). In general, I must confess that I have a lot more clothes than I need.

-Regarding the rotation of the garments, I think that approximately I withdraw and I add 20% of the wardrobe every season.

-The two most expensive items are a TSUNAMI ski coat and a "vintage" FENDI skirt that my aunt gave me.

-The clothes that transmit me the most sentimental value are usually gifts or garments inherited from relatives (generally these garments tend to have more quality, in fact I think that the clothes of past years had a lot more quality than now)

Here is a picture of my wardrobe (as best as I could take it sorry!).

The items that I wear the most are my dresses - I have a collection of them from over the years. I tend to buy expensive dresses even if it's for the day but I will keep them for many years as I see them as being timeless. On the other hand I have dresses that bought on my travels and may have only spent $30 on and yet I look after them very well too and wear them until they fall apart (sometimes fixing them a few times before I donate them).

I also have a few pairs of Levi's that I wear the most and plain tshirts. I don't have many tshirts as I'm very particular about the cut. Again I look after them and wear them until they fall apart and then re-buy usually the same style.

Per year I would say I add around 30-40 garments/shoes/handbags and I would remove less as I tend to hang onto them. Especially accessories - I rarely buy handbags I would not hang onto forever. Shoes are different as they wear out.

The most expensive item in my wardrobe is a Celine handbag I bought a couple of years ago.

The items that hold the most emotional value for me are some of my favourite dresses as they may remind me of an occassion, or they were a gift or I just feel they express who I am as I believe clothing should.
And also my handbag collection as emotional for me as they represent luxury and what I have worked very hard to afford. I also will hand these down to my daughter one day so for that reason I look after them and choose classic luxury that is time

I can't Identify the most wearable item, but I am guessing it will be my boots or trainers, shoes are my obsession, I look after them the most.

I go through yearly clearance, and I can remove up to 60% of my clothing, but then get it back within a month. I have a strange circulation happening among friend and family. We rotate a lot, I can give some to my sister, and she gives some back, I can pass it to my other family or friend and keeping some, even my boyfriend donates clothing to me. Currently, I buy 100% of the shoes and accessories, but 90% of clothes are inherited, or I made them myself! I am also doing a 7-month challenge of not buying any clothes or shoes at all, I am two months in, and I am doing fantastic.

My most expensive item is a Vivien Westwood bag. I think it was over £400. Present for my birthday!

I have a hat that my mum knitted when I was 2, and I wore it for 5 years. It's in an incredibly perfect condition, and I am hoping to pass it through generation.

I've saved everything, never throw a piece away, only if it is totally worn out.
So it looks like a lot but it's a collection of decades. i'm in a shop wanting to buy for example a nice black dress, i first think of all the dresses i have and most of the time, one of the dresses in my collection is more pretty than the one i want to buy. Therefore for me it's a good way not to buy useless stuff.

I do wear a lot of my wardrobe, but the emphasis is on dresses and tops/trousers.

I don't tend to remove many pieces, only if they are ripping (and still push it for as long as the rip will take it!). When I remove items that are still in good condition, these go to family and friends.

My most expensive item is a red gala dress that costed me £380 - I bought it to be a bridesmaid and admittedly I wore it only once. It is now well packed away in a breathable bag so I can wear it again one day (or days if I'm lucky!).

The most emotional value items come from pieces I've had since uni. These are mostly silk tops and dresses that I managed to buy using my staff discount whilst working on the shop floor of some stores. I don't think I've managed to pass along any of the items yet. Sad, nostalgia or appreciation for a great (yet stressful) time of my life? Good or bad, who knows...

Everything is very durable, because I respect good quality and this makes my everyday life comfortable. Basics are never out of fashion. I still wear damaged clothes for gardening and painting. Other clothes receive a secondhand store which trains the unemployed with this money. My most expensive part is a lambskin coat for 2500 €. The most emotional garment is my grandmother's silk crepe dress also worn by my mother, and after minor changes, I’m proud of it to wear it.

I admit I have a pretty vast wardrobe. Having worked in apparel for a long time, some of it is just keeping items I worked on, not really for wearing. In general, I purchase fewer pieces these days then I used to though I tend to keep items for a long time as I do not often buy seasonal high trend driven pieces.
- Easy to identify items I often wear as they are toward the front closets and top of the drawers.
- I probably add 20-30 pcs per year and donate/remove about 15pcs/year.
- Most expensive item is probably my winter coat.
- Items I worked on personally hold a lot of value.

So I just wear whatever I have now.

The items that I wear the most are culottes (2 pieces), kimono style outerwears (2), denim jacket (1), jeans (2), pants (4), shorts (3), t-shirts (12) and blouses (2). Their ages range from 1.5 to 6 years.

The oldest piece in my wardrobe is a 20 years old tailor made pink blouse. I only wore it 2-3 times after it was made and never worn it until today. But I don't want to throw it away either because it has my beading works which made it personal.

I have never bought expensive pieces, so I guess my most expensive one is my $30 jeans.

I am counting 100+ items including home-wear like a pajama and lounge pants but excluding underwear and socks. I have categories and note when I purchased the item and it seems like I have purchased 15-25 pieces in recent few years as a result of my effort to clean and update the wardrobe after I moved back to the U.S. I wear my plaid jacket very often which I have purchase last fall- I think I am wearing it at least once a week. My most expensive item would be All Saint leather jacket about $250 on sale. There are 3 items I cherish; one is a coat that I inherited from my mother and still very good to wear and the other is a shirt dress from Helmut Lang, my first designer piece which I scored at a second hand store and last would be traditional Korean dress that I wore at my wedding.

My wardrobe consists of approximately 35 pieces. This number includes my socks and undergarments.
1. Which items do you wear the most? Its still cold here, so I wear the same two sweatshirts and interchange them with the same 4 pants throughout each week. I have a light blue jean, dark blue jean, black jean, and black yoga pants. Pictured are the summer tops/dresses I hope to start wearing again soon! :)
2. How many items per year do you add and remove? I am not a shopper. I don't enjoy it as a hobby or for fun and only do it out of necessity - and most often from second hand stores. With that being said, I would say maybe about 2-5 items are added or removed per year.
3.Which is the most expensive? Again, I shop mostly second hand so I would say the most expensive item I own would be my North Face Jacket which I have had for 2 years.
4. Which items hold the most emotional value? Probably my "Late Night With David Letterman" T-shirt which I was wearing when I gave birth to my daughter.

My Wardrobe is basically my clothes rack and some shelves and boxes were I keep things that have to be folded.
I have aproximately 120 pieces in it, with my blue and black jeans being the item that i wear the most. I have made a firm decision tu buy less clothes this year, but probably the average of items that I have added each year goes up to 20. I have always has a problem with knowing wherwhen to remove stuff, so normally each year I have been removing less than 5 pieces. I dont normally buy expensive items, probably the most expensive item is aroun 200eur. As some other colleagues have mentioned, the items that hola the most emotional value are my mums vintage clothes and family jewelery.

The Memory of My Wardrobe

I admit to having too much, but I live in a climate where the temperatures can be anything from -30 to +30C depending on season, so that makes it a challenge for my wardrobe. There's just a handful of garments I can wear all year. I also get emotionally attached to my clothing and find it hard to get rid of them. So much actually that I have made a photo project and a book about the clothes I have in my wardrobe that have belonged to family and friends. Instead of posting an image of my messy wardrobe I post a picture from my book, The Memory of My Wardrobe.

At the moment I also have a lot of clothes, especially dresses, that I don't wear because I'm breastfeeding and it puts restrictions on what I can wear. Having a zip at the back is not practical now!

I tried to count the basic clothes I have (i.e. not underwear, pyjamas etc.), but gave up and didn't even get to dresses and skirts.

I have approximately:

20 coats and jackets
15 pairs of shorts and trousers
20 cardigans and jumpers
20 T-shirts, tops and long-sleeved tops
too many dresses and too little parties!
maybe 5-10 pairs of outdoor shoes and 10 indoor + 1 pair of slippers

What I wear the most? Depends on the season, but in the winter my light blue woolly jumper my husband gave me 2 christmases ago and the jeans I bought last year. My mother's old Max Mara coat that's falling to pieces soon. I've had it for about 10 years now, my mother for maybe 5 before me.

How many do I add/remove? I add more than I remove, but I hardly buy anything new, most is second hand on hand-me-downs from family members (they know my obsession with old clothes).
In the last 2 years I've been shopping a bit more new clothes because of pregnancy and having a baby. Last year I bought 1 pair of jeans (new), 1 woollen t-shirt (new), 1 denim skirt (2nd hand) and one stripy top (2nd hand). So maybe 1-5 annually, plus underwear and socks.
I should be better at removing, but it's hard. I do try to remake and repurpose, by making old stuff into new stuff for my baby!

Most expensive item? The most expensive item I've bought myself is probably the Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag I bought when I was 19 or 20 working in a luxury boutique. Back then it was around 350-400 euros with my staff discount. I did wear it for many years, but at the moment it doesn't feel like me. I'm saving it for my daughter now.

Which item holds the most emotional value and why? All my garments are full with emotion, as you can maybe see I have a good memory when it comes to clothes. I remember where and when I bought/wore them. The ones with most emotional value are the ones I have inherited from family members, like my mum, nan or great grandmother. One of my favourites is a teddy fur lined winter coat that belonged to my great grandmother. There's a fab picture of her wearing it on the slopes of Kitzbuhel in the 1950s! And then there's all the dresses (the oldest one from the 1930s!), but let's not even go there because then I will still be writing this piece tomorrow!

I have at about 120 items in my wardrobe.
- I mostly wear 2 or 3 pairs of jeans and a few cardigans or jumpers with a few comfy dresses and leggings.
-I have a lot of clothes so I do my best look through stuff I don't wear often and rework them with newer items. I tend to add about 15 items a year, a mix of second hand, new and handmade. I remove around 10.
-The most expensive items are posh dresses or coats/jackets.
-The items that have the most emotional value would be my wedding dress, a blue patterned chunky knit jumper my grandma knitted, a second hand floral summer dress which was my mum's and a gold dress I made for an xmas party which caught the eye of my husband.
This exercise is really interesting and the memories are almost like a scrap book of my life. I'd like to do more detailed analysis of this when I have time.

This is a very small snapshot of my wardrobe - I recently moved back to my parents home where my old room has been converted to a guest room, and so the wardrobe space is a lot smaller than my previous home and I've consequently had to store a lot of clothes under beds, in boxes etc. I wont even try to count how many clothes I have but I imagine it would easily be in excess of 500 pieces.
The main reason for this is that I rarely throw things out. I look at clothes very differently from how many of my peers do; my clothes to me are part of my identity, my image and tell a story. My shopping habits have changed a lot over the past five years since working in the fashion industry, mainly because of sample sales. I felt better buying a large number of things in bulk that would otherwise end up in incinerators at low prices than pay in store prices throughout the year. I also tend to buy less trend/fashion items and prefer to invest in more perennial items that can be relevant year after year, and made into fashionable looks through my own sense of style.

From 2015 to 2018 I was moving around different places and living in different cities, but when I moved back home I did a wardrobe clean up donating to charity most of my clothes. My closet now has around 73 items, including underwear, training wear, pajamas and two pair of bathing suits.
As for shoes: I have 8 pair of them, this year I had to say good bye to my exercise tennis because the fell apart (they were given me in a Reebok event in 2013). My oldest are two pair of boots from I think also 2012 - 2013.
The oldest Item I found, actually is 20 years old, a windbreaker from Mango. I also have some pieces I took from my sister, like a leather jacket, a blouse and a sweater.
Because of the clean up, most of my items are from 2016 to 2019.
I do have a skirt I bought around 2010 - 2013 aprox. I can not remember accurately. I also have some pieces that from maybe 2013 - 2015. My training wear is from 2015.

Which Items I wear the most:
Because of the cold weather in Bogota I tend to use my sweater the most, mostly a beige and green one. I do wear my clothes a lot, I tend to rotate my t-shirts and jeans quite often. Instead of washing them often (I think jeans I wash them many once a year), I use the old fashion way of letting them get some air. The big jacket probably are the ones i wear the least as well as the summer dresses and skirts.
How many items per year do you add remove:
I am trying to use y clothes to full usage and trying no to add anything this year.
The most expensive item:
I think a wool oversize jacket.
Emotional value:
Non really, before I was attached to much to clothing, but after moving around, I decided to become practical and try to have my staple pieces.

I split my time between my boyfriends place and mine and there are still some items at my parents that I left when I moved to Berlin. The most expensive thing in my wardrobe is my leather jacket in 2014, I had been wearing my mother's 70s one for years before investing in my own. I believed that it was an investment and I would never again need to buy another jacket.
All my other coats and jackets are vintage, much like the 50% off my wardrobe. I try not to buy excessively as there really is no need. The most recent things I have purchased was a bikini from Oh Hoy which make there swimwear from fabric that is made from old fishnets and plastics. It was pricey but again an investment.

I will admit that this task was too daunting for me to complete.

At a guess, I have over 300 items of clothing. It could even be more. I have a dressing room at my own house which is essentially our second bedroom converted into a giant wardrobe. I also store pieces in my partner and I's bedroom, at my mum's house and at my nan's house.

I do make an effort to wear a lot of my things, including the expensive and precious ones, but I continue to store pieces that are precious to me but no longer fit. I also keep things for photo shoots and for lending to my friends and other creatives.
I have things that belonged to me mother, grandfather and father that I continue to wear.

The most expensive item I own is an Alexander McQueen blazer followed by a limited edition Romance Was Born embellished jacket. They were both over AUD $4000 originally but I got them on sale. I have quite a collection of rare and vintage designer pieces which are very important to me.

As I have got older I have bought less by volume and now buy quality, expensive pieces that I care for. The things I wear the most are cheaper basics but they are always mixed in with something more special.

I hand wash, steam, air and spot clean all my special pieces.

Every few years I go through my wardrobe and will remove a lot. Sometimes I on-sell things but mostly I donate them to charity. I am careful not to wear my clothes to death.

I have a strong emotional connection to my clothes. The things that are rare and beautiful are special to me and the pieces that important things happened to me in are also precious.

I think about some of my clothes as art pieces and the way that I collect them and value them is like that too. My wardrobe has always been important to me in terms of it being both a physical reminder of important times in my life, a way to express my self and a beautiful collection of precious objects that gives me pleasure.

Can you identify which items you wear the most? This exercise made me realize I keep to many things in my wardrobe. I have around 12 pairs of pants and around 80 other items, but this doesn’t include my sports items, shoes or jackets. I change a lot between clothes, but always have my favourite pairs of jeans which depends a bit on the weather and my mood. How many items per year do you add and remove? I probably buy around 4 items per month, but also clean out my closet regularly, buy second hand and give away what I don’t wear. What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe? Which items hold the most emotional value and why? It is my weddingdress. I did make sure to buy a two piece, so the top I still wear with jeans.

There are 68 pieces, including 4 bikinis, 4 shoes, a piyama and one pair of skates (not including lingerie that I know I am addicted to it)
This is not representative of my wardrobe because I am having a break in another place that is not my city, so I've got here clothes for only 3 months.
I've got my own store until February of this year so I've got a lot of clothes because if you work with the public, people want what you wear, so after the last 10 years with my own fashion brand and the store, it is embarrassing all what I have.
Although, it's true that I've got things from 20 years ago and I take care of the washing and caring.
Where I usually live I wear all the pieces that I have in the wardrobe; last year I gave my friends (or donated) the pieces that I didn't usually wear.
At this moment, I mainly wear sport clothes.
Now that I don't have the business I don't need to remove or to buy new pieces so what I need it's all what I have.
The most expensive item that I have in my wardrobe it's, probably, a long wool cloak coat that belonged to my aunt. I don't buy pieces for more than 120€. The items that I most value are the pieces from my mum, aunt and grandma because it is like you could live and feel sensations through the fabrics, remembering my family.

I've done this kind of reaserch of my wardrobe several times already and I am still not there...
Stronglly recommend few steps:
1. Take all out of your closet and share in groups.
2. Group one: I like this piece and I don't like it.
3. Donate / sell / recycle all you don't like.
4. The group you like share into other 2 groups: did I wear it during last year or not?
5. Donate / sell / recycle all you didn't.
6. Split the rest of your clothes for seasons like spring , summe, fall, winter. There are pieces you will use for more then one season and that's great! Even better!
7. Create as many outfits you can for the upcoming season.
8. All items that are not in any of your outfits donate / sell / recycle!
9. Donate / sel / recyle all clothes from outfits you don't like or you feel you will not wear.

... and do this exercise before each season for a year. Before shopping try to create outfits and imagin on what occassions are you going to wear it, do you already have sth like this. If you add to this that you will only buy sustainable pieces so maybe in 2 or 3 years you will create a sustaianble capsule wardrobe :) I am still not there - work in progress! Good luck!

All of these are of really high quality and - aside from my grandfather's coat - they were expensive, I have them on high rotation and I love wearing them. The coat has the highest emotional value for me, but I also have some evening dresses that I've had for a long time that have really precious memories associated with them too. Because I work in fashion, I don't really shop, I add between 5-7 items to my wardrobe per year and really only when something needs to be updated or replaced. I've had at least half of my wardrobe for over five years.

I wear mostly jeans and basic plain shirts if I am not working, for work I like to dress business casual and always have clean, well matched clothes and shoes to wear. In a year I can easily buy over three hundred items and remove very little. The most valuable clothing I have are my sons baby socks, my moms 1970 one piece hippy dress and my 1980 jacket with padded shoulders. It took alot but last year I donated tons of 80s and 90s clothing away. I have given away and donated to churches and Salvation Armies over the past two decades over two dozen or so bags of clothing. Right now I have five bins of shoes and boots, three or four dozen suits, I can't count how many shirts I have their are too many, I have every color, style and some shirts dated back in the 70s and 80s. As for pants I have 3 draws of jeans and 4 bins of work pants. I have much more clothing than this but this list is really long. My most expensive clothes are my jackets I have at least twenty five of them or more. I have been guilty of binge shopping out of stress and addiction, have been hoarding most of my clothes for decades and recently last decade started recycling. After this class I have learned so much more and I have a new way of thinking and I will be changing and drastically cutting back on shopping. Fashion and textiles are my world and always will be but understanding our global dilemma I will be more conscious of my buying habits and where and how the items are made.

My wardrobe has many pieces, about 300. But most of them are pieces purchased between my 20 and 30 years of age. I'm pretty close to 45 and in the last 10 years I've bought it in thrift stores. The last major purchase I made on a trip to the United States two years ago.
I usually buy about 5 pieces a year. I have greatly changed my consumption habits and I always try to buy quality clothes that are timeless. I usually make donations of the pieces that I spend a lot of time without using, for friends or people in need. The most valuable ones I prefer to sell to thrift stores or bazaars. The most expensive item in my wardrobe is a blue leather skirt that cost about 500 dollars but I paid half the price at a thrift store.
I have enough emotional attachment to lace pieces, mostly blouses and dresses, and some handcrafted crochet pieces.

This was an amazing (and eye opening) exercise.
In my current apartment I have approximately 275 items (excluding lingerie but including Handbags and Shoes).
Since I work in Sales it is expected for me to wear the brand clothes and typically we receive for free or for a small amount. Over 30% of my wardrobe has come from 15 years of working at brands. I also looked at how much fast fashion I have bought (H&M, Zara, Uniqlo, etc) which equates to 20% of my wardrobe, mainly from T-shirts and Shirts and Athletic wear).
What I have not accounted for are the clothes that are at my parents house which I would say is approximately 75 pieces. Most is old T-shirts and additional clothes from my past jobs.
I have also reflected on my shopping habits. Many pieces I have had for years, going back to my 20s and even into my teens. However, I regularly donate and what I recently found is that 1/2 the time I am buying fast fashion, not wearing it and then donating it. I have this mentality that I can not afford expensive clothes and if I did buy I am afraid I would ruin them, thus I look for the lower priced items. Also in the industry I find that we take pride when someone compliments our outfit and we can say its from Zara.
However, with that said last year I bought a total of 12 items (3 shoes/2 bottoms/4 dress/2 shirts) that I wear every week between the 2 seasons. It was in this year that I started to think of buying more consciously and will continue to do so (i.e. not buying, buying organic/sustainable).

I would have around 350 give or take garments in my wardrobe, being a mixture of new and also vintage. I have a sentimental connection to clothing, I also have clothing that I still wear from 8/9 years ago. My vintage collection is made up of beautiful dresses and coats and pieces that have been made to last, while the other pieces of my wardrobe are now quite simple, things that I can wear in different seasons, items that will last time. This has come after a massive clear out recently where I will be selling and passing on this clothing.

I can definitely identify which pieces I wear most, but I also hang onto pieces that I know I will always wear again, not wanting to waste and have to re-buy down the track. Any new pieces I am adding into my wardrobe are now well made, staple items that I know I will wear constantly and can keep for years.

My most expensive item is my Celine handbag – black, I use it every day and it is quality that will last and that I can pass onto to future children.

My wardrobe consists of roughly around 100-150 pieces. Honestly, I thought it would be more, especially reading others' responses, but I was happier with this number than I had expected. Around last year I made the conscious choice of only buying garments that I really *loved*, which I think translates effectively into my closet. Whenever I have a piece I see that I want to purchase, I try and hold back on buying it unless I can't stop thinking about it. I'm not perfect, and of course I have those impulsive choices that everyone (or mostly everyone) struggles with, but I think I've came a long way in making these decisions. My most expensive piece right now was $120 from Unif; I wear all my pieces a lot but I mainly gravitate towards denim mom jeans and a 70's vintage band tee I bought from a vintage market. Per year, I would say I add around 10-20 items. The item that holds the most emotional value is another garment I bought from a vintage market which is a black stretchy dress because it reminds me of something my mom would wear.

In my wardrobe, I have probably more than 100 pieces, and, not without shame, I probably wear only a few. But since I started this course, I decided to stop buying compulsively clothes from fast fashion shops and started to buy only thing that I really need and made by sustainable materials.
I usually wear blue jeans and a white t-shirt, so I think these items are the ones most used.
I think I remove 10 items and add like 20 items per year.
Probably, the most expensive item in my closet is an LV bag, bought for my 18s, but I have also two coats that were of my grandma of Burberry.
I really love all of my clothes and even if I don't wear them anymore, I still have an emotional attachment.

Including all the clothing pieces and accessories, I estimate I have over 100 pieces. Everything being acquired through mainly the past 5 years and are mainly bought in regular shops.
The items I wear the most, that would be for sure the classic jeans & t-shirt combo.
I shop for clothes following my colour analysis palete, I usually buy clothes when I need something – let’s use a jacket as an example – but I only buy it if i find it in one of the exact colours I have. That means that per year I add usually around ten items.
When it comes to removing items I usually do it the minimum of twice a year, always donating to charity – mainly the church nearby. And the items removed are usually around 20 to 30 items per year.
The most expensive item is the dress I bought for my one year anniversary.
The items that are more emotionally valuable to me are: the dress I wore to my boyfriend’s graduation and the one I wore to our one year anniversary. I also have a jumper that was bought on my first visit to the Harry Potter studios and that also carries a big emotional value to me.

I would say I have around 100-150 pieces, and have only just realised now that it would take a while to count all of my clothes! Some of my clothes are vintage or inherited so were originally bought around 1960. The clothes which I have bought myself range between 2012 to 2019. Of the 100-150, i would say i wear 50 pieces regularly. I do have clothes that I only wear in summer and vice/versa and would love to have a more capsule wardrobe but it is very hard living in the UK where you need clothing suitable for multiple climates!! The most expensive item in my wardrobe is probably a white shirt i bought from Alexa Chung recently. I am trying to buy things much less often but of higher quality so they last longer. I would say i buy around 5-8 items of clothing a year.

Cashmere jerseys, scarves, suits, long opaque dresses (because I am often in Qatar), furs, hats, clothes made in leather, classic coats, trench.I buy little and quality. I can buy little because working in fashion I often wear clothes borrowed by showrooms or given by designers. I still have the shirts of ten years ago.I think I give to the church next to my house 5% of my clothes for charity. The most expensive thing is a suit of Georgers Hobeika of Couture.

I have too many clothes! Just trying to do this exercise of counting my clothes is daunting! I don't shop a whole lot, but I have been around for a while and I have a tendency to keep my clothes. I only get rid of the things that really fall apart. I have one Hugo Boss cashmere sweater that was given to me on a Peter Lindbergh shoot 23 years ago that I was an assistant stylist on. It has holes in the sleeves and many holes that I have sewn up over the years. It's my all time favorite sweater and I can't imagine my life without it.
Although I have so many clothes, I really only wear a few things having adopted the "uniform" mentality after seeing an interview with Steve Jobs. He said that having a uniform gives room to one less choice you have to make in a day full of choices.

It's a lot of time i don't buy any clothes or accessories, almost two years, because i spent money on more important things. I need to say also, at working for brands, i had the possibility to have some free clothes. The items i wear the most are a pullover of Juun J. with "Genderless" printing and pair of jeans of Ganryu. It depends on the years on how many items i add. Normally 6-8 items. My most expensive item is a shirt of Givenchy that cost 550 euros and another of Craig Green that cost almost the same. The item has got the most emotional value is my Selfmade shoes of our first runway ( i have worked for Selfmade for 1 year and 6 months ) and a puffet jacket because i made also the pattern of it.

(Student much?)

As a student, my budget is fairly limited but I have noticed that I am now more eager to spend slightly more on an item if I know the quality is better and it will last longer. I always try to ask myself when I'm shopping if i will wear this piece a lot and more importantly for a long time.

My most expensive product by a long way in my wardrobe is a Gucci clutch that I was given as a present.

I have about 300 pieces in my wardrobe... which was a lot more than I thought. To be honest - shirts that have worn down turn into pyjama shirts and a lot of the 300 are now lounging 'pyjama shirts' as I only wear a handful of items out. I split my wardrobe for the cooler and warmer weather and manage to fit a season's wear in these drawers. Basics have always been on a regular rotation with stripes, navys, greys, black and white. I haven't added much to my wardrobe since the discovery of rental services like Glamcorner. Majority of my additions from the last year have either been gym wear or slower self made garments. I did however have a big clean out in the past year where I had given away at least 150 garments.
The most expensive item in my wardrobe would be my Givenchy hand bag which also holds emotional value due to the context in which it was bought. I still hold onto many garments which I couldn't bear to part with...
- my year 6 shirt with all my friends' signatures
- my year 10 formal dress
- my year 12 formal dress
- one set of my high school uniform - the shirt is signed
- my year 12 jersey
- my denim jacket i've had since i was 7-8 - it was an oversized denim jacket and while I'm still the same size as I was as a 12 year old - I now wear that jacket as a cropped denim jacket.

I have another 20 pieces in a drawer behind my wardrobe door - these are off-season (i.e. only worn during the height of summer or depths of winter) or farm clothes.

The items I wear the most are the ones that I have made myself, since I spend a lot of time finding the right patterns and fabric to make something that I am absolutely sure I will wear a lot. I do buy shoes, but only when my old ones completely wear out, so I guess I add about 5-10 pieces per year and probably remove about the same or less. The most expensive item in my wardrobe would probably be my clogs, although it's quite hard to say as many of my clothes are old, given to me by friends and family, purchased secondhand, or made myself from fabric bought with birthday and Christmas gifts.
My favourite items are my denim jacket and jeans which I bought after the birth of my first son, and the cream silk top I made myself with a birthday gift from my parents and that fits perfectly. As well as my clogs, which were my gift last Christmas, and leather tote, which purchased after winning a giveaway.

Below a picture of my wardrobe. No excuses. And this isn’t all.. I didn’t start counting as it is simply to much. There is already 200 hangers on the wall which are almost all in use.

From a very young age I am a real fashion lover (fashion is my biggest passion) and proud of the beautiful items I have. But I am not so proud of the fact that for a long time I didn’t realize where and how it all is made.

Back in the days I bought a lot. I cherish most of my clothes, but some clothes weren’t worth buying afterwards. Because of this nowadays I think twice before I buy something. I am very careful with my clothes which makes that they last for a long time and I keep them for years.

One year in my life I travelled in Australia, Tasmania and Bali and lived out of a suitcase. This experience made me value my clothes even more and made me realize how materialistic the world is and that we don’t need that much to be happy. As you cannot buy luck. I am emotionally attached to the items I was wearing during my travels because they remember me of my journey. But unfortunately, I didn’t change my behaviour drastically when coming back home as I still have a lot of clothes.

But some things are changed. Nowadays I am more consious about what I buy and where I buy. And I value quality over quantity. I don’t buy that much any more. One day a week I work at the Salvations Army. Now most of my clothes are second hand/ vintage and come from there. I also donate clothes to family, friends, the Salvations Army and other non-profit organisations. And every week I go to sewing class, so in the future I can start making my own clothes. I think, when you make them yourself, you will value your items even more.

I consider myself an aspiring minimalist, so I enjoyed this wardrobe analysis. I don't have a large collection of clothes, but I have a healthy selection of versatile pieces. My total is about 70 items including shoes, coats, and bags (not including undergarments, bras, sock pjs).

On average, I buy 6 new-to-me items each year and donate or resell slightly more than that.
I wear about 70% of what I have on a regular basis. I tend to invest in quality, with the most expensive item costing about $400.
The pieces that hold the most emotional value are special pieces that make me feel good, vintage finds, and family heirloom.

I am pretty minimal when it comes to shopping. But let me be real, it is because my income is very low. However, I am lucky to get either free or discounted clothes at the companies I have worked with, so most of my wardrobe results from that. This image in no way reflects my full wardrobe, but it is all I can fit in my small apartment. Here in NYC I have to separate my clothes by season and only display what I wear currently. The image shows my one winter coat, a couple jackets and sweatshirts, some work tops, and a couple pants. Some of the shoes are over 5 years old and some as recent as last year. Most of the clothes were purchased within the last 3 years with a few pieces that were able to last for up to 8 years. Anytime something is too worn out, I try to sell it at a second-hand store. But, in most cases, they do not accept worn items so they will ultimately be donated. The items that hold the most value to me are pieces I have collected from my travels, which usually involve talented craftsmanship and handwork. The most expensive item would probably be my high-quality jeans, but they are also what I wear the most. I don’t mind splurging on an item that I wear so frequently and that needs to last a long time.

Over the past few years I have slimmed down my wardrobe considerably, however I still have over 200 items (excluding lingerie) and many of these pieces I rarely wear including a drawer bursting to the seams full of Sportswear! I have a few pairs of good fitting jeans that are always on rotation, as well as some basic tees and jumpers and a favourite green dress. The most expensive item in my wardrobe is my Stella McCartney bag which I use everyday and which is the item that also holds the most emotional value for me. I try to limit myself to buying a maximum of one new item per month and at the beginning of this year I went on a spending detox from Jan- March. The detox was revealing; inspiring me to appreciate more the items that I already own and to develop a more focused sense of style when adding new items to my wardrobe. I am definitely feeling more conscious of my impact when shopping/ supporting brands.

Most of the items that I add to my wardrobe comes from the sample sale at work since we have most of the popular brands and also I do wear testing at work and we get to keep the items .The items I use most is my Django & Juliette flat shoes . Since I injured my ankle I find this brand of shoes very comfortable.
The most expensive item is my Grey Zara Wool blend jacket that is hand made and the fit is prefect . I tend to mainly wear black or neutral colours and don't go on 'shopping sprees', I buy with reason and knowing what I am already after. I buy the majority of my clothing second hand on Ebay, and I also sell a lot of my clothing from the last 10 years on Ebay too. I do tend to wear the same rotation of clothing a lot, which has caused me to sell what I don't wear or use my pintrest boards to find new ways to style my pieces and find a new love for them.

The most expensive item in my wardrobe is a silk floral dress I wore for a wedding last year. This was a risky purchase for me as it was not black, but I have plans to keep wearing it & styling it in different ways in the upcoming summer.

Because I don't buy a lot I feel that I do value all of my clothing, generally feeling upset if i wear something out or ruin it by stains etc.

I wear my home clothes the most because I am working from home most of the time. I do a big wardrobe detox each year and occasionally let go of few items as my weight or taste changes. My most expensive items in my wardrobe are up to maximum £300. I can’t think of most emotional value, maybe my Wolford items as they are ethically made, they are high value and trendy, chic items. It’s completely aligned with my personality and my values and quality. I still have many of my cheap, fast fashion items though I deeply believe in recycling and upcycle your already existing collection of clothes, therefore I have clothes bought 10 years ago and I have only clothes minimum 1 years old. I haven't bought any pieces since 2017. I still have lingerie I haven't used yet. I definitely need to get rid of things because I was a big collector and keeper, which doesn't resonate with me anymore

Every piece I buy since then take me time to think with what I can use, if it works with the colours and models I already have, with the occasions I am living right now... and I'm already "suffering" more after researching and studying about sustainable materials.
I know it is a long path until i finally can call my wardrobe a "Capsule" one, but I already feel much better with less clothes. I remember always fight with myself trying to find the perfect look for every occasion, feel a lot of stress with giant piles of clothing, try million looks and never feel happy with any. This does not happen anymore! Such a relief!!
Also, I find it super cool because I wear all of them in so many different ways.

My target right now is to have only what I really use, to make sure I can pick ANY piece of clothing with closed eyes and wear happily.

TOTAL PIECES OF CLOTHING: 88 (without sportswear and lingerie)
TOTAL SHOES: 12 (including 2 high heels and 1 sport tennis)
TOTAL WITH SPORTSWEAR: 115

*ITEMS I WEAR THE MOST: 2 pairs of jeans
* ADDED IN 2019: 4 / 2018: 5
* ITEMS REMOVED IN 2018: 150 plus
* MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM: 2 taylor pants
* MOST SENTIMENTAL: I really don't have one, if I don't use it I let it go.

But I like wearing them to school and so, because I‘m really into oversized clothes.
The most expensive item in my wardrobe (I know of) is a pair of jeans for ~500€. I wear this one pretty often because I can match it pretty good with other stuff.
But I‘m a student, so I don’t earn much money.
I add and remove about 20-30 items per year I guess.

MY WARDROBE INSIGHTS After reviewing my wardrobe I can identify the following. What I have:- I have around 134 pieces of clothes in the drawers.- I have around 60 pieces among dresses and pants.- I have around 30 pairs of shoes. Items that I wear the most:- Flip flops- yoga pants.Items per year I add and remove:- I have a fascination for shoes but I tend to remove the same amount that I buy. Around 5 pairs per year.- Lately I am not buying much clothes. In previous years I bought quite a lot so I am mostly reducing the items. I am removing around 10 items per year. Most expensive item:- Could be a gown dress that cost around $250.- Also a pair of boots $150 and shoes $200.Item that holds the most emotional value: - my ballet shoes. I danced ballet for 10 years and it has influenced a lot in me. I love dance and art and even I don’t do ballet anymore I have great memories of it.

I have been slowly eliminating pieces that i no longer wear. I have gotten this down considerably to around 40 items per season (summer and winter) excluding lingerie and active wear. I haven't purchased any new items in 6 months and will only buy items that are second hand. My most expensive item would be a pair of jeans. they are made in Melbourne and have lasted 5 years and are still going. If i buy something new it will be from a company that is sustainable and has the same views and ethics i believe in.

I have around 50 items of clothing that I use frequently and around 15 to 20 extra items in drawers and chucked away for later use (ex winter, sports clothing). 90 percent of my wardrobe is secondhand clothing that I have accumulated during the past 5 years and the new pieces are mainly sports ware and lingerie. Im working at the moment to reduce my clothes in drawers and boxes and give away to friends or people in more need of. I believe I peeked in clothing consumption around 2014 to 2016, but from then reduced the consumption and moved to mainly secondhand. Last year I peaked in secondhand buying or receiving but my newer goals are to own less items in general.

I am not proud of that, but what I can safely say is that 80% of them are quality items that can be worn for years or make good vintage pieces when I'm ready to pass them on. Since the last 6 years i have been conscious to only invest in quality pieces and still wear them today. In the last 2 years consciously reduce my purchases, I don't think I have purchased more than 30 pieces altogether. .
I am also a huge believer of re-gifting things that i no longer wear to extend the life cycle of these products. 2 years ago i did a 'cleansing' of my wardrobe and given out at least 100 pcs of clothing.

I too have a wardrobe full of clothes. Generally I tend to only buy black clothing. You can easily combine everything ( nobody notices when you wear things often) and these pieces tend to be timeless. Of course I have a some clothes I don't really wear much, yet, most of it are old clothes from my mom that I just can't/ don't want to get rid of. Within recent years I started to buy a lot of clothes second hand, sell old clothes and also swapped clothes. I noticed that buying second hand most often satisfies me more than buying brand new clothes. The probably most expensive item is my dionysus handbag. It probably is also the most valued item too because I earned all of the money myself. Though, I also have to say that such an investment (at least for a student) has payed off, the bag makes me happy every time I wear it, I really appreciate the craftsmanship and values. Recently I found out that the bag is an example of sustainably (luxury) fashion too making me even more happy with my purchase.

I have a wardrobe with drawers and other items on hangers. I have around 100 items of clothing. They are garments for the different seasons, as in Argentina we have 4 and for each of them, of course, you need to have proper clothes. In particular, my jeans have 3 years of use and they are still new. My winter jackets too, i bought them 3 years ago. I have to say that by that time i was working in a shopping mall so most of the good quality garments were bought there. The garments that i replace more are t-shirts. But i don´t buy more than 2 or 3 per year. The ones i don´t use any more, i usually give them to charity. I never throw them away, but i need to know who is going to use them then. I realise now that they are more the items i give to someone else, that the ones i buy every year.

Like many of us, I have way too much items on my wardrobe, with most of my regular outfit items being from fast fashion entities. Although I have tried to switch to buying less frequently and more consciously, I do sometimes shops at fast-fashion brands out of convenience and get about twenty low-quality articles each year. I am currently living in Montreal, and have realized through this exercise that none of my belongings have been made in Canada or US, except some items from American Apparel probably due to the lack of economic incentives to produce more locally. Nonethless, I have stopped to purchase accessories in fast-fashion brands to switch for luxury/ high end items that last ten times more longer and I will never get rid off. This has changed my purchase decision thinking process drastically as the price of these kinds of items are drastically more expensive and has reduced the number of accessories I buy each year.

Now, with this results I have to say that I have too many clothes, I don't need any more ... I might began to recycle the ones I already have !!!

I split my wardrobe into summer and winter with several cross over pieces that I wear year round. For a fashion lover I have never been a bigger shopper so the majority of my wardrobe is years old but kept in good condition. Until recently most of my jeans which are my staple garments I had owned for 10/12 years, until they unfortunately wore through.
I tend to buy a few staple long sleeve t-shirts/ vest etc per year, but otherwise I only buy garments that I really like and work on the practice of 'Do I need it?' rather than do i want something.
Apart from the free samples I get through work I try to by most of my clothing second hand and aim to only buy pieces that can be worn in multiple ways to create different looks. The most expensive items I own are probably jewelry that I've had as gifts, or a few outfits I've had for weddings, but these have always been worn to multiple events and anything that I do not keep goes to charity shops for resale.

I have always moved a lot and I dislike clutter so my wardrobe actually is not too cluttered. Every season change I also change clothes over ( unpack winter pack summer stuff) and review the things I have and gift or give away the thinks I no longer use. Recently however I have tried to stop buying things in fast fashion companies, to check the labels of the things I buy and buy higher quality items.

True that it is easier to preach but difficult to follow. This is exactly what this exercise is making us do.When I came to know that we are supposed to count the pieces that we have in our wardrobes, my heart sank, I was literally scared because most of the spaces of my wardrobe and my room is filled with clothes.Clothes that I had bought from various places that I have stayed at different points of time.I was in Delhi with my sister as students and we would buy tons of clothes, from tops to dresses, to skirts, to Kurtis, salwar suits, night suits, you name it and I have it in my wardrobe. Some of them I have worn only once or twice but they are there squeezed and tucked away in small corners of my wardrobe. Not that I own expensive designer pieces but pieces that we would get at reasonable rates from local craftsman like Lucknow chikan Kurtis, block printed Kurtis, chandeeri sarees, silk sarees, cotton sarees and dresses from flea markets like Sarojini Nagar and more expensive ones from Shopping Malls. As we we're never fully satisfied with the cuts and designs of readymade dresses, we would buy fabrics and make our own.So I have more than three fifty pieces.Half of which belons to my twin sister. So I still have around 150 to 175 pieces after donating a lot of garments to the local orphanage.
However, I am not much of a meticulous dresser.I wear what is comfortable and usually wear a kurti and a jeans coupled with a stole.I usually wear around five or ten dresses from my wardrobe. The most expensive items in my wardrobe are two piece sarees called Mekhela Sador which is our traditional dress. These two piece sarees are made from Golden silk called Muga which is found only in this part of the world in Assam and mulberry silk. They are hand woven and have traditional Assamese motifs woven on them. I also have two piece sarees woven from cotton yarn. There are two items that I really value in my wardrobe and they are the sarees gifted to me by my sister. I used to be a big shopper when I was a student but now I mostly make my own clothes.I have not bought any new clothes from the past two years and I have been using the same handbag from 2016. After reading about the impacts of fast fashion and going through this course, I have started upcycling pieces from my wardrobe. I give away pieces that I don't wear.I am still in the process of decluttering my wardrobe and I will soon have only the pieces that I absolutely need and love.

In my Fall wardrobe, I have ca. 10 tops for workout, 20 tops for work and going out, 15 pairs of pants and jeans and ca. 10 specifically Fall-Winter dresses and jumpsuits. The truth is, I wear 2 or 3 of those pants throughout the season once it starts to get the cold because I do not like wearing stockings and I tend to wear white premium cotton shirts and tops with everything. So i probably use around 30% of my wardrobe, and mostly my new clothes which are more comfortable and casual than what I used to wear 2-3 years ago. I do a regular maintenance every season, sorting every item but I rarely throw those away which are of good quality or used to be more expensive, even if I do not wear them anymore. In Hungary, where I live, the clothing collection system is not the best, most clothes collected are donated to charities, where as I would prefer to recycle them, because then I know for sure that they are used in the way I wanted them to be.

i must confess the outcome of this exercise surprised me. i found out that i own nearly 300 garments - including underwear and sportswear. sum-up some 15 pairs of shoes and 17 bags/purses/backpacks. i genuinely thought it would be less when i started with this task.
as for the timeline, my acquisition quest was at it's peak first two years after graduating from college, 8 years ago. i got my first official job and i felt like i must dress accordingly. each season i bought 5 to 10 new pieces (around 30 pieces a year). I still keep, and wear, some of those clothes.
my habits changed with the change of lifestyle. ever since i begun studying fashion, i look more closely at the clothes in the shops and i buy much less. a little whim now and then, but no more than 4 per year. lately i fell in love with second-hand shopping.
i can't say no to a good-fitting pair of jeans and i own surprising number of little black dresses. lots of b&w, stripes, and dots.
the pieces i love the most are those my granny made for me (a blouse, a dress, and a jumper).

my wardrobe I have count every single piece in my wardrobe. Spring-summer and autumn-winter garments, underwear/swimwear, shoes & handbags. I have nearly 400 pieces. I knew I have a lot of garments, because I work in the fashion industry, but I could say 70% I have received as free samples. I don’t like shopping and either spend money on clothes. I have been taking samples from work, damage or with cuttings and fix it myself. My next project is to go through all my wardrobe and do a selection of what I would like to keep. This is perfect time while we are at home because of COVID19. Can you identify which items you wear the most? Yes, black jeans. I wear almost everyday in Winter and summer dresses in Summer.
How many items per year do you add and remove? It is very difficult to say because I get a lot of garments at work as well as I give to friends/family or charities.
What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe? A lace dress that I have worn already few times at weddings.
Which items hold the most emotional value and why? My graduation collection that I made myself. Every single piece has a lot emotional value because I cut and sew it myself and won a competition with this collection that gave me the opportunity to study at LCF.

Just counting what is accessible right now, I have 86 tops and dresses hanging, 32 coats, 22 jeans, 38 sweaters, 41 t-shirts, 85 pairs of shoes. This is not counting the four boxes of clothes I have under the bed and another 2 that are in the building storage space. It is also not counting the three garbage bags of stuff that are sitting in the hallway waiting to be disposed of from a cleanout a couple of weeks ago. I do intend to take them to a resale store or donate them, not throw them in the trash.

In the winter I wear black jeans and a few grey, white or black sweaters in rotation. In spring or fall I tend to wear blue jeans with white or striped men's shirts and trench coats. In summer I rotate between black, white or striped shirt dresses or skirts with white shirts.

I know that I am on a constant cycle of buy and discard, see the note above about the garbage bags in my hallway. I constantly buy trendy pieces but end up feeling weird in them. It is largely because I work in fashion and whenever fashion week rolls around I feel like everything I own is wrong and that I look ridiculous, and then head out to buy something trendy to, I dunno, fit it? Look like I know what is on trend? I know it's a compulsion that is more psychological than need based.

I have a few vintage items that have a lot of sentimental value, like a chinoiserie jacket I bought in an NYC vintage store years ago. I hardly wear it but I love it. A Tom Ford for Gucci silk skirt. It's a special occasion item that I haven't worn in years but I love it. I rarely spend more than 150 euros on an item though so there is nothing really expensive in my closet.

I'd estimate I have about 200-250 pieces of clothing. I'm currently pregnant so I have packed away some of the clothing that I don't fit into at the moment to make space for my maternity clothes.
There are about 120 pieces hanging in my wardrobe (dresses, jackets, woven tops and shirts, skirts, shorts, jeans and trousers), with another 6-8 jackets and coats in another wardrobe. I also have a chest of drawers with knitwear and jersey sweaters and t-shirts, exercise gear, nightwear, underwear and hosiery.

The items I wear the most at the moment are skinny jeans and leggings with sweaters, as it is winter and they are comfortable for playing with my toddler and going to the park.

It depends on the year as to how many items I add and remove. When I worked full time for a fashion brand I got a lot of clothes at their sample sales and on staff discount. Our director liked us to wear the clothing and it felt important to get some new pieces every season for meetings with her. When I was pregnant the first time (2 years ago) I had to buy all my maternity clothes, though some I got from eBay. Now, I am trying to buy as much as I can second hand or from more ethical retailers. I tend to sell things that are in good condition or popular brands on eBay and donate everything else to charity shops.

The most expensive item in my wardrobe that I paid full price for (not from a brand I worked for) is probably a Maje dress that I bought in NYC in 2015 for a wedding. I think it cost around $250.

I think one of the items that holds the most emotional value and that I would struggle to get rid of is a Prada bag that I bought in the Prada outlet outside Florence. I was a student studying Accessories, and I had gone to the Lineapelle leather fair for the first time with some of my fellow students. It cost €200, way more than I could afford back in 2005, but I loved it so much that I had to have it. For months afterwards everything I wore had to match the bag. I still have it in a box in my attic.

I confess that I have like 500 hundred pieces of clothes in my closet, without counting all my cheap jewelry. I was also blind about my consumption of fast fashion, but since I started to be aware of it and learning more about it, I decided to reuse things more, and start second hand shopping but it still difficult to me. Since 10 years ago or more I have been selling my clothes to buy new one, maybe 40 pieces of new clothes per year, since I go to United States to buy my clothes and stuff cause were I live (Ecuador) everything's 300% more expensive. The more "expensive" items in my wardrobes are the jackets and sport shoes. I consider myself a jacket collector , my plan is to have them all of my life until I have kids and they can wear them as "vintage clothes" from mom. I really want to change my consumption of fast- fashion.

I counted 75 pieces in my wardrobe + 12 pairs of shoes. I recently moved to another country and I donated most of my clothes beofre coming here. I really brought what I would use. Since then I have donated a lot more and I currently have almost nothing that I brought from my home country and I am in the process of renovating my style a little bit. I have to say My wardobe has shrunk a lot but of course my timeline shows I´ve bought more over the years (which is not that true, it´s just that most of the items i bought before are not with me anymore).

I am proud to say i wear everything that I own, and I do a closet detox two times a year where I donate clothing to people who need it and I keep only what I´ve used in the past six months. Of all the pieces I own, only 56 of them where bought and the other pieces I have made myself or are secondhand garments that have been gifted to me from my mom.

I´d say I remove about 30 items per donation and I add about 10 items per year.

The most expensive item in my wardrobe is a designer coat I bought in Ecuador.

I have practiced detachment from material things for a while now so I really don´t have emotional attachment to most of them, still, there are like 2 or 3 items that my Grandma gave to me that I just can´t get rid of because of emotional value even though I do not use them.
