1) In my personal opinion, I believe that the shoe industry is perfect how it is. It allows equal opportunities at success for people of all ages. There is no regulation needed because that would only bring the value of sneakers down because it is becoming a more institutionalized market than it should be.
2) Yes I do believe they can be an investment opportunity even though there are fake sneakers out there. Similar to the stock market, fake shoes can be sold the same way stock brokers sell penny stocks to unfamiliar buyers. If you know shoes well, you can tell the difference between real and fake shoes and know what to buy and what not to and all it takes is research (which is available for everyone)
3) Nike is not manipulating the market unfairly. They target the biggest names in sports such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James using their "superstardom" to boost their brand. Every major shoe company has an equal opportunity of signing these premier athletes but due to how innovate and important Nike has been to the shoe industry, the majority of athletes sign with them.

1) To me, the term "better off" refers to the amount of success a person has in their lifetime. For example, the CEO of a large business is "better off" than a homeless man on the side of the street for a few reasons. The first obviously being money and the attainable items that money can buy but also the fact that the CEO is much more involved within his community. To me, "better off" refers to how high you unofficially rank in society.
2) There are so many things that could determine a nation's growth, satisfaction, and success rate. It would be hard to determine any of those things without holding one thought in mind-"in regards to....". There are too many ways or ideas on how to measure those three things without being very specific.
3) When polling a nation to determine the poverty rate, of course it is going to be a statistic because that is the quickest way to determine it. Rate refers to a quantity or measurement so it would make sense that the result would be a statistic but there are so many factors that contribute to poverty and that is why the poverty rate is a "fuzzy number". One solution while polling would be to allow people to give a brief explanation on their situation so people get to know the people and not just their economic status.
4) Universal Income is a good idea in theory. Everyone gets an equal pay and an equal opportunity to succeed within their society. However, that does not work. Some people are just frankly not worthy of universal income while others deserve more than a set rate of income. Elon Musk who is pioneering space exploration as we speak does not deserve the same pay as a 7/11 cashier. Universal income is the basis of communism and while communism is a good idea in theory, history proves that it does not work.

1) People do not realize that this world is limited. People believe that they can have whatever they want, wherever they want, whenever they want and that is just completely untrue. People need to become more aware of what this world actually has to offer and look at the bigger picture of civilization.
2)

3/14
1) While the US economic system does not give the best advantage for people like the ones in Oakland to enter into the work force, they are also making more decisions such as committing crimes and using the money they do have to by drugs and alcohol. If people from the inner city are able to stay clean, it would be much easier for them to get a good paying job and get out of the slums.
2) A good way to eliminate this would be to put in a Personal Finance class in all schools. We already have one and I feel that already the graduating students from BHS are making strides in the real world and are knowledgeable with their money. Our personal fiance class has already helped me save and stow money away for future use and give me a better understanding of finance as a whole.
3) For people ages 18-24 financial stability is very hard. Especially with student loans so high and the difficulty to get a good paying job. College students often struggle financially and have a really challenging time coming getting a job during and after their schooling is done.

3/16

1) These companies should not be regulated because they have earned their way through the system to dominate. All companies had the same equal opportunity to dominate the way they do. However, they should not have the same power as a country does and be able to wage war but that is not to say they don't have power. These companies are able to manipulate the market that they are in which is in tern considered power.
2) Yes behavioral economics does take advantage of the consumer but not in a bad way. Firms and large companies will research what his important to the consumer and target that and use it to sell their product which is technically taking advantage of the consumer but again not in a bad way.
3) For huge companies like Walmart, getting taxes $64 billion since their start is not that bad. All things considered, they make millions and millions of dollars every year so they are able to keep their business going.
4) Job loss is a huge factor when judging economics. If people work for the smaller media companies such as Yahoo or Bing and are losing their jobs to Google, I don't see an issue with that. It is a competitive field just like any other and all companies had equal opportunity to dominate the market.

3/30
1) I do not believe what we saw in the video would be successful in New England. There is not enough of an immigrant influence in this area. However, I do believe Mall's can be revived by a strong anchor store such as a gym.
2) I do believe that outlet mall's can combat online shopping because of their low price. Also, around here, since there is one so close by, people tend to go there a good amount.
