This image represents a typical American greeting. The national language is English and a typical greeting is to 'wave hello'.

This image ties into culture in our readings because it shows a specific behavior (a wave when greeting someone and saying hello) and a language ( in this case, English).

This image is the representation of shock when seeing something that might be different than this girl's culture.

It represents culture shock because it shows the shocked expression from seeing something from a different culture. Different people may have different reactions to culture shock (i.e. be happy, mad, or sad) but they will still have a shock from the different culture.

This picture shows the girl's reaction to someone breaking a norm. This relates to the word "sanction" because it is her reaction to the norm breaking.

This image is depicting Hitler and the people who opposed him. What Hitler stood for was antisemitism. He persecuted the Jews and was very counterculture to the rest of the world's views on Jews. His style of ruling his country was counterculture to a lot of the ways that things were done. In the rest of the world, Jews were treated as normal people. In Germany (and in some other countries where Hitler joined forces with the rulers), the Jews were treated like dirt. This is counterculture compared to other places at the time, such as America, where the Jews were treated normally.

This relates to the subject of counterculture by showing two different opinions and how people lived and treated one another.

This image shows a $20 bill. There is also a conversion factor saying that $20= 1 hour of work. This is a highly unlikely minimum wage in a lot of places, but in places like California, minimum wage is getting up to that price. Minimum wage is the absolute lowest monetary compensation that a worker can get paid for work so a worker in this case can always get paid more money as time goes on (i.e with a raise). This relates to the topic of minimum wage by showing a monetary amount that can be considered minimum wage.

This picture shows a girl who is a police officer. She has a police badge. Police have the privilege to do certain things, such as pull someone over, arrest someone, or go over the speed limit in certain cases. Not every person has the privilege to do those things. (I guess that regular people could do those things, but they would probably get in trouble for it.) This picture relates to the topic of privilege in a somewhat different way than that discussed in the class. The class discusses more "white privilege" based on someone's skin color. However, this type of privilege still fits into the definition, so I am including it here.

This image is of two girls trying to decide between cats or dogs. The girl in the hat likes dogs better while the other one likes cats better. After some discussion, the girl with the hat starts to think that maybe she likes cats better after all. This relates to the topic of groupthink because a lot of people will change their original opinion on something (i.e a stance on something) because someone convinces them that that stance is correct.
