The Korean language is considered as ethnic family language and is written using Chinese characters which is called Hangul in 1446. Also, they use English and Korean languages to teach in universities and high schools. Addition, government policy is work to improve the level of English in their country. The English language was used as subtitles in some TV channels and there were some newspapers versions provide in English and Chinese languages.    

 

In the past Korea was dominated under Japanese from the 1890s to 1945. However, Japanese was responsible for the initial economic modernization of the South Korean country. Moreover, the South Korean was comparing with other poor countries levels in the 1960s. In 1961s Park Chung-hee, the South Korean president was trying to transform the country from an agricultural backwater into a modern industrial through economic development program and become an independent country.  But The South Korean economic become the high-tech industrialized economy and increased incredibly in the last four decades. In 2004 South Korean become the member of the trillion dollar club of world economies. Moreover, industries were diversity such as an automobile, electronics, chemicals, telecommunications and shipbuilding. Also, they have diverse media sectors such as the internet, satellite television stations, newspapers and radio. 

The first broadcaster radio established in 1927 by the group of people called Korean broadcasting system (KBS). This broadcaster radio is public service network and it’s appointed by Korean president and currently, there is an online web page radio in English language and operate six networks. Then in 1961 there was another public broadcaster radio call Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation that operates MBC radio and music based MBC FM. Nowadays, MBC is expanded to have three radio channels, one TV channel and there are many programs providing like drama, news, entertainment, international awards, and sport. Also, there is KBS world radio which is external Broadcaster.  

The first TV station was established in 1956 by KORCAD and there is two type of TV such as private and public TV channels. The private TV like Seoul broadcasting system (SBS) it is a commercial broadcaster and launched 1991. The public TV like KBS, MBC and EBS, all TV and radio channels are helped to distribution Korean culture to the world through drama, K-POP music and news. Also, it becomes easier to watch Korean drama in any country because all drama is providing with sublanguage like the Arabic language.    

 

The news media of South Korean was starting in last 19th century after Japanese leave their country, but they were faced many difficulties in press media in 20th  because political control. Moreover, in 1945 to 1948 the Korea was under U.S. military power, this period helped in the burgeoning of the media press. The Syngman government was stop and arrested newspapers publishers in the period between 1948 and 1960. Addition, during the reign of President Park the government was surveillance all newspapers media since the Korean War. After that South Korean country was control two broadcasting companies like KBS so, no one can criticize anyone from the government.

South Korean is considered as one of the most wired countries of using the internet it was increasing from 77% in 2008 to 83% in 2014. However, in 2002 infrastructure of the network was connecting to be international internet and submarine cables to two countries China and Japan. The national intelligence service and police have authority on internet access points for national reasons. In 2008, 4731 websites were blocked and deleted 6442 pages. Moreover, in 2015 the telecommunication sector was diverse and it opened the way for competitors and today there are more than 109 internet service providers (ISPs).  Between 2010 and 2013 South Korean was suffering from a violation of electronic data. For example in 2013 South Korean major banks were attacks and North Korean was authorities behind that. Nowadays, South Korean become as globalization country and has high-speed access to internet and connectivity.  

There are many factors affected the media development in the South Korean such as geographic, cultural traits, economic, governmental influences, media qualities and technological competencies. In this report, I choose one factor cultural traits factor.

Cultural traits

The South Korean people was divided into different classes because different of education level. For example, the people who have the college education are belonging to middle class. Also, there was a big gap between industrialist income and working income. Moreover, the most things are effected in Korean people cultural was education, family and occupation. These things are enhanced and developed Korean media. 

Moreover, the Korean travel is the official account that representing the tourism side of Korean country by providing information about the events, travel news, traditional foods, traditional culture, and guides information. Also, this account helps people from other nationality to know more about Korean culture before they are visiting South Korean.                 Currently, social media is contributing to sharing ideas and developing business. Also, it impacts on culture and society. However, South Korean trends are to expanding use social media not just in tourism and communicate, but also in business and spreading the Korean culture to the world. South Korean is a success in producing electronically in order to meet people needs in Korean and in the world and there are many famous that produced electronically such as Samsung and LG.

Globalization is impacting significantly in the media Korean development where it becomes interact with world changes. South Korean is an emerging arena of globalization and dynamic change. Moreover, Korean culture is an influence in foreigners people though TV drama, K-pop music and films. Addition, the media is advertising for Korean goods such as electronic, automakers, clothes and foods.

The South Korean country is considered as the fastest internet connection speeds in the world and there are many new technologies that used by Koreans people every day. Also, social media has become more variety and there are many different platforms such Facebook, Twitter and Kakao talk
