I will use expressive line and color to comment on the public fascination with the idea of the apocalypse, both in ways it has been anticipated in the past and how we may see it in the future. I want to recreate the strong emotions associated with both the anticipation of and reality of the endtimes. I have chosen to depict scenes of apocalypse from science, literature, and religion, to emphasize the universality of humanity's obsession with the end of the world.

This is an image of destruction witnessed from far away. Though there is obvious destruction and horrors occurring in the city, the viewer is forced to see it from afar, and is instead drawn into the peace of the natural landscape.

This piece is meant to represent apocalypse by mass extinction, and to simulate the confusion that may occur in its wake.

This piece is based off of the poem "Darkness" by Lord Byron. In the poem, Byron discusses what would happen if the sun burned out, a common fear in the mid-19th century. This depicts the final scene, where the last survivors on earth meet in a church and die from the shock of seeing how ugly the others have become.
