Freedom of Religion

The freedom of religion in the First Amendment prevents laws that establish a national religion and does not get in the way of U.S. citizens exercising their own religion. Citizens have the right to also change their religion or beliefs, and also practice and teach their religion in America.
In the political cartoon attached below, it demonstrates how the woman wearing the burqa is being discriminated for wearing her religious clothing even though it is her right to do so because of the First Amendment. It is the woman's right to wear the burqa if she is a U.S. citizen because she can exercise her freedom of religion. It is important that people have the freedom of religion because it gives them the ability to express their beliefs and ideals without being punished for them.

#religiousfreedom
#exercisereligion

Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech gives U.S. citizens the ability to express their opinions and ideas without having to fear consequences such as censorship, retaliation, and legal sanction. Freedom of speech is also referred to "freedom of expression." Freedom of speech is a right that guarantees people to have their own opinions without interference.
In the political cartoon below, the newspaper headlines in the image state "College activists demand safe zones, trigger warnings, and political correctness" and "Storm of outrage as NFL star sits out National Anthem." These titles depict people using their right to freedom of speech in America. The college activists are expressing their opinions and ideals by protesting or taking action, and the NFL star sitting out on the National Anthem is a freedom of speech because that person may use the act of sitting out as a form of protest against something that they believe is not right. Freedom of speech is an important right that citizens should have because it gives them the opportunity to express their opinions without having consequences for doing so since it is their right.

#saywhatyoubelieve
#freespeech

Freedom of the press was created to prevent government forces and regulations from withholding information, news, and opinions from citizens. It guarantees the right for people to communicate and express what they want through the media and other public material.
This political cartoon of President Donald Trump depicts how he extremely supports Freedom of the Press. Trump expresses the Freedom of the Press on social media and talks about whatever he wants to discuss on the Twitter platform. This demonstrates the Freedom of the Press. This right is important because people can post whatever they want on social media based off of their opinions without getting retaliation or censorship for the way they feel.
#freemedia
#nocensorship

Freedom of assembly is the right for citizens to come together and collectively express, promote, and defend their ideas and beliefs. Freedom of assembly is also referred to freedom of association as well. Citizens are able to come together and protest and voice their opinions to the government about situations they do not agree with.
This image depicts people protesting about gun reform after the event of the Parkland school shooting. This relates to freedom of assembly in that people are coming together to express their opinions about gun control and gun reform, believing their should be stricter gun regulations. It is the people's right to express their opinions to the government about the situation of gun control.
#cometogether
#collectiveassociation

The freedom of petition guarantees the people the right to address the government about things they feel is wrong or make complaints to them about the way government is being run. The freedom of petition gives citizens the right to call the government to account and address them for help that they need.
This image depicts a person holding a long list of signatures to give a petition to the government. The cartoon demonstrates the man using his right to petition and address the government on topics he is concerned about. The freedom of petition is important because it gives citizens the ability to speak directly to the government about their concerns or ask for change without getting punished or being feared to speak out.
#voicetogovernment

#petitiongovernment
