my name is celine. I’m doing research to inform undergraduate teacher development, for teachers working at the instersection between language and translation/ interpreting.

I’m a mature student. I never thought I could study for a PhD.

I wanted to join this coaching, to get help teaching writing goals - I still have a fear of putting ideas down in writing - because I think they are not interesting or “right”.

The past year has already helped overcome this a little, but I am still hoping to improve my “productivity” and just get stuff done.

Hi, I'm Lauren. I'm at the University of Bristol, in my fifth part time year (but after doing two years full time). I research how politicians discuss the nation and the migrant in England, Scotland and Wales. I'm currently doing my analysis and collecting data. As for work, I'm a senior researcher in Defra and Home Affairs at Parliament.

My name is Zia Saylor, and I am a first year full-time student for a Ph.D. in Social Policy. I am researching the impact of load-shedding in Cape Town, South Africa, on intra-household inequalities.

I live in Bristol and enjoy reading and painting in my free time.

Apologies--I did not meet anyone in person or in the first Zoom session--I have been on leave for most of January as I am from Altadena (Los Angeles) California (the town that burned down and has apocalyptic images in the news). So for obvious reasons been away but I will be there for future meetings and am looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi, I'm Jill. I am in my second year part-time at Cardiff University. My PhD is concerned with how the biodiversity crisis is being tackled through the planning system in Wales.

I live in Bristol with two teenage children and am the full-time carer for my eldest.

I like to paint, play and listen to music and outdoor activities. I volunteer as Chair of Governors for my local nursery federation and lead conservation work parties at a local nature reserve.

I'm hoping the coaching can help me get back on track with my studies and get to grips with my recently discovered neurodivergence!!
