The peasants were allowed to farm on a lord's land if they  give payment and a portion of the food they grew. Peasants were not free to leave the manor. There was one church, a forest, fields for farming, and a source of water. while the lord was relaxing in his fancy home, the peasants, or serfs, were farming wheat, making bread and "relaxing" in their one room dirt floored huts.</div>]]></description>
