         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Battle of Britain was an air campaign waged by the German Air Force against The United Kingdom. Hitler had planned to land German soldiers of the coast of Britain but was worried about the success of the mission due to the strength of the British Air Force. The Germans had planned to take out as much of Britain's air forces as possible. However, their forces were defeated. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Battle of Stalingrad was the first battle between the Soviets and the Nazis. Stalingrad was targeted because of it's industrial importance for Russia. The Germans had managed to push the Russians back along the Volga River, and had bombed the city. However, the Soviets were able to overcome the Germans, but not without extensive casualties. It was one of the deadliest battles of modern warfare. </div>]]></description>

Upon hearing that the Allies were going to attack, Japan launched the majority of their naval fleet to defend the Philippines. Although the majority of their naval and air forces were deployed, the Allied forces eventually overcame them, and Japan was forces to withdrawal. This completely destroyed the strategic threat posed by the Imperial Japanese Navy. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After the Bataan Peninsula was taken by the Japanese, thousands of Filipino and American troops were forced to walk 65 miles to prison camps. Due to the intense heat and length of the journey, the lack of supplies, and the brutality of their captors,  many soldier died, which was why it was named the Bataan Death March. Over 75,000 soldiers were forced to make the trip. </div>]]></description>

However, the U.S. defeated the Japanese forces with a surprise attack and turned the tide on WW2 in the Pacific. </div>]]></description>
