The Daily Mail, a website that posts and informs different types of audiences about things that a going on in the world at the moment, things such as the most popular news stories which are eye catching and attention grabbing. Towards the left and centre of the website, you can see the top news stories that are popular in the news. The website is updated as soon as a new story comes in or an editor edits a story that is already uploaded. Whereas, on the right side of the page, there are news stories about celebrities which are much smaller than the news stories on the centre of the page; this is mainly because the stories at the right side of the page are not as important but mainly gossip.

The Guardian have actually recently changed their design of their website, mainly because it was slightly controversial as the heading was blue, and as the Guardian is a political newspaper and blue in politics is usually associated with the conservative party, so they therefore changed the layout of the website as well as the title. The Guardian has different subtopics which link to different topics. Further down, you can find the top news stories; mostly about politics as the Guardian is known to be mentioning sotries about politics.

There are many similarities between The Guardian and The Daily Mail. One huge similarity is that both of the pages have an tab at the top where it allows you to hover over different sub headings relating to different topics such us; fashion, health and beauty and politics etc. This allows the readers to read different topics which they find most interesting. As you can see below, the logo of the company is bold and large so people can see when they go onto the website what there logo looks like, and can see what website they are on.

Furthermore, another similarity is that both of the pages have the weather. The Guardian has the weather on the top at the left side of the page, and the Daily Mail has the weather forecast on the top right hand side of the page.

Even though there are many similarities, there are still however many differences making each of the newspapers different.
One massive difference is that on The Daily Mail you can see that the celebrity gossip is on the right hand side of the page, however it is a very small post like you can see below:

Another outstanding difference which can be seen is is that the Daily Mail is a tabloid and the Guardian is a broadsheet. A tabloid is a newspaper with a compact page size smaller than broadsheet. A tabloid is defined as "roughly 17 by 11 inches" and commonly "half the size of a broadsheet", although there is no standard size for this newspaper format. However, an broadsheet is the largest newspaper format and is characterised by long vertical pages (typically 22 inches or 56 centimetres). The term derives from types of popular prints usually just of a single sheet, sold on the streets and containing various types of material, from ballads to political satire. Below you can see a part of the website; first you have The Daily Mail, and then The Guardian.

This newspaper tend to use a mixture of informal and formal language as their target audience is mixed. The Daily Mail' target audience is tended to be directed at the working class residents of the big city, this meaning that the newspaper is directed mostly at the C2, D and E, this is because the news that is portrayed on the daily mail, is quite soft, and not extremely important as things that are displayed on the guardian.

The Guardian is a very political newspaper, therefore it means that most likely older people will tend to read it as it is more important and interesting to them, than other celebrity gossip. Also, business men or women may read The Guardian as it may affect them and it will be important for them to know about. Most likely it is read by the higher end of the working class; like C1, possibly C2 and most definitely B too.
The Guardian use very formal language as they mostly talk about politics so they don't really have another choice, as if they were to talk in an informal way, the audience reading the newspaper would drop to the lower working class.
