I enjoyed reading this book and found that it shaped my perspective since it allowed me to see the power of nonviolent protest and the importance of standing up for what one thinks is right. This allowed me to witness the Civil Rights Movement firsthand allowing me to deepen my understanding of this historical event as well. The courage demonstrated throughout this book serves as a testament for how individual actions can contribute to significant societal change. On a more personal level, this story inspires to continue fighting for more women in tech. Through my efforts in co-leading the Girls Who Code club at BCA, it's inspiring knowing that individuals efforts can lead to lasting change in breaking down barriers in the tech industry and striving for a more equitable future!

Naked Economics: Undressing The Dismal Science

This was a text I read as part of my summer homework. At first, I was reluctant, but I eventually I found this book admirable in making fundamental economics concepts accessible to all. I found it interesting the parallels Wheelan made to our everyday life. The story is special to me because it sparked my interest in understanding how economic principles impact our society as a whole. It was helpful in shaping my analytical thinking and allowed me to look at the world through a more economic and informed lens. One chapter I found particularily interesting was regarding the "Tragedy of the commons," changing my perspective in the way I look at everyday activities that cause pollution or overfishing, littering, etc. This made me more conscious of my lifestyle/activities and their broader impact on our society.

This was influential to me due to its deep exploration of the American Dream, which illustrated the true cost of pursuing success. It grounded me during times when I wondered whether my ambitions were worth a lack of focus on my mental health. This book is especially special to me as well because it made me reflect on the complexities of human nature and the downfall of chasing illusions. I enjoyed the symbolism and intricate characters used helping me gain appreciation of literature's impact on approaching life's deeper questions.

Thi book shaped my understanding of foundational programming and logic, really getting me excited about comptuer science and technology! I attribute a huge reason for my sudden interest in computer science since after freshman year summer to the instruction and insights shared here. This provided me with the essential skills to think critically and in a modular/systematic way, that transcends beyond coding. This book is also particularly special to me because it was also one my dad read when he first got into software development, creating a meaningful connection between our learning paths.

"The Land of Stories" was one of my favorite series when I was younger! His authorship ignited my excitement in the power of literature to express imaginative ideas and teach valuable morals like teamwork. This series had a significant impact on shaping my love for reading and storytelling, showing me how books can both entertain and inspire. I picked this as one of my entries particularly also due to the nostalgia associated to his works.
