A number of groups, led by revolutionaries including Francisco Madero, Pascual Orozco, Pancho Villa and Emiliano Zapata, participated in the long and costly conflict. The initial goal of the Mexican Revolution was simply the overthrow of the Díaz dictatorship, but that relatively simple political movement broadened into a major economic and social upheaval that presaged the fundamental character of Mexico's 20th-century experience.
Elvis

There was a lot of racial diversity where just like in other places during this time colored people had no power and white people were more superior. In Brazil over time there was given independence and was actually the last world country to abolish slavery. Lots of fighting happened in latin America in order to get what they wanted Independence. In Latin America the people no longer wanted the Spanish to be there or have power so the Bolivar convinced the Llaneros to join forces with them to overthrow the Spanish for good which lastly they did.

That the failure of Tsar Nicholas II’s government effort in the war had caused a lot of immense suffering because he had no efficient administration to ensure adequate weaponry, transportation, food, medical care, or other necessary things for soldiers in modern times. And even though Russian soldiers were loyal and effective fighters they, had suffered from a huge lack of basic material like bullets and other things and also went without boots instead wearing rags on their feet, and some of the army generals were not trained for modern war techniques while some did and some were more concerned about killing their own Jewish Troops then fighting their real enemy. And when hundreds and thousands of wounded people and millions of refugees crossed back into an entirely unprepared Russia and from 1915 Russian soldiers had been leaving while civilian organizations had started to pick up from where the Imperial Administration failed.

Russian revolution
In the middle of ww1, the people of russia were starving and dying because of the tsar. So of course this led to a revolution when the tsar didn’t care for russian citizens. Here is where Lenin comes in. Previously he was exiled to switzerland but now he’s here to change the country’s way of life. He is the reason why the country became a communist country.

The Mexica tribe settled in the middle of Lake Texcoco to fulfill a prophecy because they were told that the appearance of an eagle perched on top of a cactus and eating a would mark their new home. The Mexican allied with two of the neighbors to form the Aztec Empire which then grew to dominate the land. In 1521 after many battles Cortes and the conquistadors defeated the Aztec Empire and Spain got more land. Agustin de Iturbide teamed up with Vicente Guerrero and made a revolution that caused the Spanish to leave Mexico City and form an independent Mexican Empire with Iturbide as Emperor. Mexico became in trouble when Texas joined the United States than between 1846-1848 there was a war between Mexico and the United States but The U.S won and all the northern territories went to the United States. Mexico borrowed a lot of money from Spain, France, and England and so when they won the war Europe came to collect their tabs but Mexico didn’t have that kind of money; on May 5, 1862, it was the Battle of Puebla which was like an Anti-Re-Colonialism Day. Mexico descended into open rebellion when they couldn’t agree on a new government but Mexico’s involvement in WWII kick-started decades of economic progress that continues to this day.

Tsar Nicholas II’s government causes a lot of suffering because of the bad management of weaponry, food, transportation, and medical care. On Russian February 23, 1917, it was International Women’s Day, and working women of Petrograd protested on the streets the mismanaged war efforts. Vladimir Lenin came back to Russia and began making speeches and made a platform of “Peace, Bread, Land” and also Leon Trotsky helped make the Bolsheviks stand out. In 1917, Alexander Kerensky came to the government with an aim of reviving Russia’s capacity to fight in World War I but it didn’t work because Bolshevik had become weak. Lenin wanted to overthrow the Provisional Government because he believed a revolution had to use violence and so Bolsheviks led a meeting and started taking over government buildings, arms depots, transportation networks, and other infrastructure. The Bolsheviks wanted to control the rise of Communist parties so in 1919 they established the Communist International. While the Bolsheviks got more powerful that caused a lot more violence because of the constant threats from enemies and Lenin believe that violence was the key to maintaining the Bolsheviks’ state. The Bolsheviks did make progress because they set up health clinics, daycare centers: communist enthusiasts taught people to read, etc. Lenin then died because he suffered from strokes and minor roles were given to other Bolsheviks.

There was a huge slave revolt and one of the people who led the revolt was Toussaint Breda. The spanish consistently supported the slave revolts (Charles IV) in saint domingue to weaken the french. By 1793 the spanish offered even more help and gave L’Ouverture the position of officer in the spanish military. The french eventually freed the slaves because of the overwhelming forces of the spanish, british who started going after them and the slaves.

China had a dynastic government for over 3000 years which changed thanks to the revolution starting with the uprising of revolutionaries in 1911 to end the Qing Dynasty. China’s defeat in the opium wars, which resulted in European domination and influence from other nations was deeply embarrassing to the Qing dynasty which led to a call reform. Sun Yat Sen was an especially important leader and was considered the “Father of the Nation” for his essential role in overthrowing the Qing Dynasty. Mao Zhedong was also an important figure in the revolution as he was considered the father of Communist China, and was also a founder for the people’s republic of China. Mao Zhedong leading as a communist leader in the position of vice chairman of the communist party, emerged victorious after the war between the Nationalists and communists due to a disagreement between Guomindang Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-Shek and the communists. Respect for the Nationalist government weakened because of economic discontent due to the civil war started by the Nationalist leader, which led to the growth in power of the communists. The People’s Republic of China was declared on October 1, 1949 by Mao after the end of World War II, with Chiang Kai-Shek and his army being sent to Taiwan. The Republic of China, now being led and founded by Mao Zhedong’s communist party, allowed for Mao to implement many of his ideas, which most resulted badly for China, and ultimately ended the dynastic government.

Few places in the world relied so heavily on slave labor as Saint-Domingue, France's most profitable colony. Slaves made up nearly 90% of Saint-Domingue's population, and in 1789 they couldn't help but hear about the revolution underway in France. All the talk of liberty, equality, and fraternity sounds pretty good to a person in bondage, and so the slaves rebelled.
The aztec empire was formed, but then the colonists came. When Spain came they had allies, two being some enemy tribes and diseases. The Aztec empire was demolished. Spain held an iron fist over the people in Mexico with money, labels, supplies, troops, and religion. But Spain ended up not being the best with money or the economy in general. Mexico fought alongside America with their revolution but some people were taking notes and then a priest named Miguel started the idea of a revolution but lost. Iturbide conquered Mexico making it independent of the ideas of equality, catholicism and monarchy. But the people weren't happy with the government. Santa Ana another ruler didn’t help with Mexico becoming better either. Napoleon then came into the picture and invaded Mexico but was defeated. In the end Mexico's history is very complex.

The Mexica tribe settled down in Lake Texcoco and marked their new home with an eagle perched atop a cactus eating a snake which they will then ally with their neighbors and form the aztec empire. Spain found where the Aztecs were living and a man named Hernan Cortes went to the land and tried to take over. There was a huge battle when the aztec empire fell to them. The land was now allied new spain the name mexica was named mexico with new cities rising and people being separated by blood. Eventually Mexicans had enough and saw how the haitians revolution worked out for them so they decided to try it. They were able to drive away Spain but that led to a dictator rule which led to the country going even more bad. A battle broke out and soldiers were killed in texas which the U.S ended up taking up some of Mexico’s land. A civil war broke out and both sides borrowed lots of money which led to the liberals victory but they ended up in debt which caused the french to take over but 3 years later was recaptured by the mexican army. Mexico fixed up their government and was now recovering everything they had lost.

The Haitian Revolutions was a series of revolutions that took place between 1791 and 1804. Set out to overthrow the French regime in Haiti by the Africans and their descendants who had been enslaved by the French. The French colony began in the 17th century and made money by selling leather and boucan but then they realized investing in sugar plantations would make them more money at the expense of black people’s freedom. They were forced to work on slave plantations and dealt with poor working conditions. Rich white people also known as Grand Blancs were at the top of the pyramid, followed by freed wealthy people of color, poor white people also known as Petit Blancs, and slaves at the bottom. In 1789, when the French Revolution broke out everyone had a goal in mind (slaves wished to no longer be slaves, Petit Blancs wished for a way out of poverty, freed people of color wished to not be discriminated against, and Grand Blancs wished that the government would stop trying to help the slaves). The Haitian Revolution has often been described as the largest and most successful slave rebellion in the Western Hemisphere. Slaves initiated the rebellion in 1791 and by 1803 they had succeeded in ending not just slavery but French control over the colony.

The violent revolution marked the end of the Romanov dynasty and centuries of Russian Imperial rule. During the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks, led by leftist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin, seized power and destroyed the tradition of czarist rule. Russia was one of the most impoverished countries in Europe with an enormous peasantry and a growing minority of poor industrial workers. Much of Western Europe viewed Russia as an undeveloped, backwards society. The Russian Empire practiced serfdom a form of feudalism in which landless peasants were forced to serve the land-owning nobility well into the nineteenth century.
Belinda Parra

New ideas were being spread in America like new constitutions, religious freedom, etc. George Washington led the colonists in the war and helped them secure their win. These ideas of liberty were diverse and it was what made the American Revolution revolutionary. People began questioning freedom and whether slaves should be free. The number of free people of color increased as time went on but as we can see today POC are still being discriminated against.

In 1766, colonists started to boycott many British goods. The British started to increase taxes on customs duty for the British imported goods. This greatly affected the colonists since they relied on those goods like glass, paper, and tea. British troops were sent to Massachusetts to threaten the people. The colonists continued to rebel which caused the British to add more regulations and armies. After many battles by 1787 the peace treaty was agreed on. Which made the colonies no longer part of Britain. The constitution was drafted in 1787 and ratified in 1788.

By the end of the 18th century France was on the brink of bankruptcy due to the abundant spending done by the monarchy and France’s support of America in their revolution. There were three estates in France, the first estate being the nobility, the second estate being the clergy and the third estate being composed of merchants, craftsmen and peasants. The third estate was the only one that had to pay taxes and often faced extreme poverty while the other two estates lived lavishly. After the third estate expressed their discontent with their economic standing a meeting of all three estates was called known as the Estates General. During this meeting the estates were unable to reach an agreement so the third estate broke off and formed the National Assembly. The people continued to be upset so on June 14, 1789 they stormed the Bastille, a symbol of royal power, which marked the beginning of the revolution. On September 21, the First French Republic was declared but extremists known as Jacobins continued to be upset. They began a time of great turmoil known as the Reign of Terror until a general known as Napoleon Bonaparte took control and became emperor in 1804.

Sor Juana Ines de La Cruz she disguised herself as a boy so she could attend university. She was forced to leave her work and sell all 4,000 of her books.Latin America had a great deal of racial diversity and a rigid social hierarchy to match.Brazil was different because it was ruled by Portugal and not by Spain. Napoleon took over Portugal in 1807.The entire Portuguese royal family and their royal court decamped to brazil and they ended up loving it over there and even after Napoleon was defeated at the battle he decided that he wanted to stay there. In 1821 he returns to Libson and he leaves his son Prince Pedro behind. Then brazil decides to make him King of Brazil. Brazil was the last new world century to abolish slavery not fully abdndoning it until 1888.The Latin America’s independent movements started in Mexico when Napoleon put his brother on the Spanish thrown in 1808.Venezuela had a cadre of well-trained creole revolutionaries who by 1811 had formed a revolutionary junta that seized power in Caracas and forced a republic. In December of 1824 at the battle of Ayacucho, the last Spanish viceroy was captured and all of Latin America was free from Spain.By 1825 almost the entire western hemisphere with a few exceptions in the Caribbean was free from European rule. Most of that territory had been under the Spanish or Portuguese control for almost 300 years.Women were not allied to vote in the elections in Mexico un till 1953.In Peru women were allowed to vote until 1955.In the Latin America’s revolutionary wars killed 425,000 people. In the Venezuelan war a million people died.

The revolts started in 1857; the British made gun cartridges out of animal fat like pork and they had to bite it off to load guns, Indian soldiers got mad since eating pork was against their religions. Indians made several groups and revolts since then but they were not very successful.
The French Revolution began when people were deeply in debt and King Louis XVI was using half of the national budget to service the federal debt and to buy himself and his wife food and anything expensive. There was widespread hunger due to bankruptcy and hailstorms that ruined a year’s harvest which raised food prices; People couldn’t afford food and it enraged them that their leaders were eating great food. The French Revolution did a poor job at maintaining the right that everyone had the right to property, liberty, and security. The Assembly voted to suspend the monarchy, have new elections, create a new republican constitution which led to the trial of Louis XVI where he was found guilty and executed. With his death, it marks the beginning of The Terror because it meant if you could kill the king, you could kill anyone; it was led by Maximilien Robespierre who sucked at protecting public safety. Antoinette and Maximilien are eventually guillotined which led to another new constitution of giving more power to wealthy people were put into place and led by Napoleon Bonaparte; he helped win the wars against Austria and Britain which established him as the First Consul of France and granter him almost unlimited power under another constitution. Napoleon eventually fell, France restored the monarchy, had a new king again, a nobility, an established religion, and was not a democracy or a republic. (1789-1799)

The PRC promised equal rights for women, rent reduction, land redistribution, new heavy industry and lots of freedoms,(thought, speech, publication, assembly etc.), didn’t actually happen though. Mao and the CCP set out to turn China into an industrial powerhouse by following the Soviet model. After short success, Mao declared “The Great Leap” which was a really bad idea. The Cultural Revolution in the 1960s was an attempt to capture the glory days of the revolution and fire up the masses.

This is because of the rumor that the King of France had freed them. In august of 1791 the slaves revolted. L’Ouverture freed the slaves of the Caribbean. The American revolution was supposed to be about “the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The main strategy of the British in the Revolutionary war was to capture all the cities and force the colonists to surrender. They captured Boston and New York and Charleston, but all the colonists had to do was not quit. Only the ideas in the Declaration of Independence were revolutionary, not actually many things changed.

In the 1900’s Europeans dominated the world which increased violence, because of conquest and colonization. People then started questioning the violence that was happening. In 1908 Tolstoy wrote a letter to Gandhi explaining that they needed to confront British imperialism with love and non-violence, Gandhi then published the letter in 1909. In 1915 gandhi began to distill his thinking related to non-violence into a more explicit philosophy. Gandhi wrote about his beliefs in Ahisa could be the basis of indian resistance to british rule . Non-violence equaled a way of life and tool for the gaining of Indian self-rule. They also believed that Indians could reject violent lifestyles and bring end to British ruling through Ahimsa and satyagraha. A big war that started because there was a huge monarchy, the big separations of the rich , mid and low class. The French were in debt, and a shortage of bread was only offered to the rich. Louis XVI, the leader of the monarchy who approved this war since he supported the American revolution , Maximilien Robespierre, supported the justice for the same rights for all. The French revolution was in Paris, The government was based on monarchy when the war was fought it made a change in france. The guillotine was made to execute thousands of people who tried to overthrow louie. This killed over 17,000 people in France, this caused the repulsion of the French who led to attack louie and caused more people to rebel, how the chamber made one feel. It was a bloody time, the low class murdered the workers, the revolution was too far in so they decided the king has to die because the king couldn't go against the beliefs of the citizens. After louie died the people who were against the revolution killed the people who were with the revolution. After all this the new rule was established that there will be freedom, and an end to the monarchy

So the slaved were free but they had decided that sugar was crucial at this time period, so he slaves kept working but they were not getting payed. Although they had freedom now this was still part of the French empire that was going to be ruled by Napoleon so he sent his military to fight against the slaves so they could have power over then again. In this car a virus that we know as the yellow fever was on the good side and killed most of the military soldiers that were going to fight. This let their freedom and independence continue. Haiti was the second free and independent nation in the Americas, it has one of the most successful slave revolts ever first nation of people of color being governed by people of African decent. And they stopped Napoleon from building a whole new empire. This revolution ended in the year 1804.

The Haiti Revolution was mainly because the slaves wanted to end slavery. Haiti was the second free and indepedent nation state in the Americas. There was an island in the West Indies where it was populated with one of the most slaves in the world. Most of the slaves were tranpsorted to Saint Domingues. Colonial society in Saint-Domingue was divided into 4 groups: at the top were the white planters who owned plantation and slaves, the weathly free people of color, the poor whites (petit blancs), and finally the slaves who were most of the population. When the French Revolution broke out, these groups had a lot to complain about. For example the poor whites were jealous of the wealthy people of color. It began in 1789 when there was a rumor the king of france freed them. The Decolartion of Rights of Man and Citizen gave hope to free people of color and slaves. The poor white people rebeled, since they were angry the colored people were higher than them. In 1791 the National Assembly gave full French citizenship to all free men of color. The fighting broke out between the newly French people of color and the petit blancs. August of 1791 a massive slave revolt broke out and the leader was Toussaint L’ouverture, who helped the slaves withstand attacks from the French troops. The spanish gave a lot of support to the slaves and even let L’ouverture become an officer in the Spanish military. Then soon in October 1793 the British helped invade France, since they were already at war. The French got scared and decided to free the slaves becuase they didn’t stand a chance. On Febuary 4, 1794 the National Convention in Paris ratified those decrees. This gave freedom to evey slaves in the French Caribbean. The new free people (old slaves) finally got paid for there work and there children weren’t sold. But soon after, Napoleon ruled France and reintroduced slavery again. Leclerc denied letting the people of color keep their guns and so they got angry and started a guerilla war. This conviced Napoleon to give up, and sell non other than Thomas Jefferson Louisiansa. On Januray 1, 1804 Dessalines declared the island of Saint Domingue independent and renamed it Haiti. There Decolartion of Indepencnce rejected France, and was a refugee for all slave people of any kind. Haiti was the first nation to be governed by people of African desent. Haiti stood up for the weak when the rest of the world failed to.

Mexico had seen the American and Haitians get their freedom by creating a revolution. The revolution was started by a priest named Miguel Hidalgo, on september 16, 1810. As the revolution went on there were constitutions but there was no freedom no independence and the people didn’t know what they actually wanted out of the revolution. The goals for the revolution were now known, they wanted equality, catholicism and monarchy.People were not happy with Iturbide’s government, so he was executed and central america seceded for Mexico and its empire. After this a man named Santa Ana became president and everything went downhill after that states such as texas and all the states on the northern side joined/were taken by the US.Santa Anna was the taken out of power in 1855 and then in 1857 there was a constitution that took power away from the church and this caused a civil war.The French invade Mexico and when the got to Puebla they were surprised by the resistance of the Mexican army, this is what Cinco de mayo is about the battle of Puebla. As time passed Mexico grew and this cause another revolution as a guy named Porfirio Diaz rigged election to become president and later was forced to flee. After getting involved in the second world war Mexico's economy progressed
-Melani A

Helen Bautista

The french revolution started in 1789 and later ended around 1804.

During the 18th century or the Age Of Enlightenment, Only 5 % of the population was in charge of everything, in other words they controlled everything. French citizens did not really like that idea very much. Also during this time France was in a huge financial problem. The king borrowed tons of money to fight against England during the American revolution. The country later turned mad and hungry due to the lack of resources. King XVI (16th) called up a meeting with all the estates called Estates General. The meeting was caused to talk about a new tax policy. The commoners decided not to listen and started a National Assembly later other estates joined. The sower to stick together until France wrote a new Constituting that will be equal to everyone. Meanwhile the citizens of France started rioting and looting that they invaded the Bastille ( a symbol of the Monarchy). Fast Forward, the french army gained so much power that an army general, Napoleon Bonaparte decided to declare himself dictator. Later on he became emperor in 1804.

What I have learned from the Haitian revolution is that it was the first country that gained its independence and ended slavery. The revolution had started on 1791 in Saint-Domingue because that was the year where Paris had gave full french citizenship to all men of color who had property, money, and weren’t the children of slaves. The Petit Blancs were enraged upon hearing this news which led them to fight the Newly French free people of color. The slaves have heard of this news and decided to revolt against their oppressors, among the leaders of this revolt was Toussaint Louverture who molded the slaves into a proper army that could withstand French troops. The Spanish helped slave revolts in Sain-Domingue in hopes of weakening the French to win the war against them, but by 1793 they offered even more support to the point where Louverture became a military officer in the Spanish military, he joined the Spanish only because the emancipation was more important to him than his French citizenship. French was at war with the Spanish and the British and now the slaves, so the French Generals knew they weren’t going to win at this rate so they passed a law granting every slave in France their freedom.
