Skrillex has been a huge influence for me and my music. Since around 2020, he has strayed away from the big dubstep sound that he makes and focuses now on the minimalistic style, and demonstrates to me that there is so much power in the simplicity of music. Songs include "Rumble" with Fred Again and Flowdan.

Subtronics is an influence for me as he is a leading force in new wave dubstep, incorporating various elements of both the classic US dubstep sounds like riddim as well as elements from UK dubstep like minimal trap and future bass. He is also influential to me in the way that he also uses fun and silly samples from pop culture references, making his songs always sound and have a fun and silly feel to them despite being the leading sound in dubstep on an international level. He never takes himself too seriously and I relate to this.

Skrillex said in the Daft Punk Documentary "Unchained" that seeing the way that they approached EDM, specifically the way that they approached live performance as well as live mashups of songs into their sets, made him rethink his perspective of what EDM is and how to incorporate a performative aspect into your music. This was in reference to their Coachella set in 2007 (Black, 2015).

EDM.com (2019) explains that Skrillex was heavily influenced by Noisa while he was coming up and making music and said that he strived to "make music that they [Noisa] would play in a set". He goes on to say that the sound that they were making at this time was a huge influence on his early production days, as well as his more recent songs including his album "Quest of Fire" due to the UK sound Noisia represents.

EDM.com (2019) also shows that one of Skrillex's biggest influences was Excision during his early breakthrough into dubstep. The iconic and innovative sound design that Excision used for his dubstep at the time, pushed Skrillex to make new and innovative sounds. This specifically refers to mainly saw wave synthesis which at the time, was an underdeveloped way of creating sounds in dubstep.
