         <description><![CDATA[<div>While stuttering may not be linked directly to Tourettes, my brother has suffered his whole life due to the speech impediment. At one point he was taught to pull on his ear lobe whenever he began to stutter, which I believe is related to 'Habit reversal' and perhaps distraction. It worked for a short period.&nbsp;He has dedicated his life working with special needs children, which I believe is a result of his own challenges that stuttering has brought him.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Assistive Technologies - Built in on the iPad for easy usage</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The iPad contains build in technology to assist blind students in navigation and control.&nbsp;</div><ul><li><strong>VoiceOver </strong>is an industry leading gesture based screen reader that describes exactly what is happening on the device and gives auditory descriptions of onscreen elements. Students can use this to&nbsp; navigate their screen, especially safari; an entire website can be read out loud to them. This enables students to be able to conduct research, listen to audio books, and type. Students can navigate and use any app with this feature.</li><li><strong>VoiceOver Gestures</strong> along with the VoiceOver allows the student to touch the screen with different gestures and each gesture means something different. For example, 1 finger tap allows the student to hear a description, 2 fingers down reads the page starting at the selected item, 2 fingers up reads the page from the top, etc.</li><li><strong>VoiceOver Roto</strong>r is a virtual dial that lets students navigate apps in different ways.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are APPS the assist the bind in reading.&nbsp;</div><ul><li>The <strong>AUDIBLE </strong>app and <strong>VOICE DREAM</strong> app allow students to read with their ears by searching and listening to audio books. In addition, any PDF or E-book provided by the teacher can be loaded into the app and read out loud.</li><li>If the teacher has a printed document that she wants her student to read, the <strong>SCANNER </strong>app will assist. A photo can be taken of the printed material, it is loaded into <strong>VOICE DREAMER</strong>, and the entire page can be read out loud.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Using a <strong>fraction fan</strong> and a thumb tack, one teacher at our school created a customized fraction fan for a blind student wit the fractions written in Braille.</li><li><strong>Descriptive video</strong> can also be used to translate audio video. Blind students can enjoy videos when the images and actions on the screens are described during the natural pauses in the dialogue.</li><li><strong>Wikki Stix </strong>can also be used during class. Students can use them to draw maps during social studies and geometric shapes during math.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>During Art class, <strong>clay </strong>is a great modelling tool for the blind. <strong>Textured handouts</strong> can also be created where images are outlined on a worksheet to make it stick out and student can trace it with his fingers.&nbsp;</div><div>In music, blind students can easily follow rhythms and using any instrument, the rhythms can be played.&nbsp;</div><div>In PE, other than jumping on a trampoline or running around, there are <strong>balls with bells </strong>or <strong>beeper balls</strong> which provide auditory stimulation and&nbsp; help students keep track of it as it bounces and rolls across play area.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

To calm the nervous system, teachers and parents may use ball pits, weighted blankets and vests, or "squeeze machines" to provide tactile input.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>Apps are commonly used for sensory "breaks." These tend to be simple tools that allow you to do things like pop bubbles, meditate, follow images with your eyes, or play repetitive music.
