b. Technology is the practical application of knowledge in various field, it can be both tangible tools and intangible software that greatly contributes in making our daily lives easier.

c. Society is a group of individuals who share commonalities which can be varied into common cultures, values, practices, geography or territory.

Describe the relationship of Science, Technology and Society.

The relationship of Science, Technology and Society greatly influences one another because through Science we have the process of collecting evidences in order to identify existing phenomenas, as well as discovering new occurrence in the world we live in. After collecting those evidences we can proceed to studying it furtherly by conducting various observation, research, and experimentation; with that we can produce solutions which can be both tangible tools or machineries and intangible software that is called Technology and with that we can continuously assess the needs of our society. I believe Science and Technology plays a huge role in making a better and well-functioning Society.

2. Science and Technology plays a crucial role in the growth of various sector of our nation, particularly in the sector of education, health care and economy. Having the advancement of technology truly improved that imparting of knowledge in schools, we can now have distance learning if inevitable circumstances occur. In our medical institutions we can now easily navigate the conflicts of our body through different invented machineries; researches are also continuously growing which contributes to improving medical diagnostic and preventing diseases. Lastly, our economy, through inventions and innovation we have well-functioning industrial machineries making it easier to produce products and transport it through different vehicles which makes the cycle of production and consumption continuously. All those factors significantly contributes to the growth of our country making our life bearable.

3. As an STS student, in order to be a guardian of society I aspire to be someone who possesses good qualities in life: A responsible, ethical and respectful individual. I will use technology responsibly with mindfulness of my behavior and social print. I will ensure that I am well-educated about the proper usage of my technology. Particularly, smartphones because our generation is highly exposed to this invention, we must keep in mind the ethical use of this and set boundaries in order to avoid inappropriate circumstances online. Lastly, I believe that everything starts from the four corners of our home and as an elder daughter and someone who aspire to be a guardian of our society it is my responsibility to protect my sibling from predators online, so I would start by guiding her and navigating her through the proper usage of smartphones.

If we are talking about science and technology solely, then I think former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. recognized the importance of science and technology. During his term, he made significant decisions in relation to the development of science and technology, which I think greatly contributed to the economy during that time, establishing the advancement of science and technology for the national development and making it the top priority in accordance with the 1973 Philippine Constitution during his term. Particularly, in his second State of the Nation Address in 1967, Marcos declared that science is significant for development programs; they took steps to put this vision into action by directing the Department of Education (DepEd) along with the National Science and Development Board (NSDB) to revitalize science in high school; they also provided science-teaching equipment for 4 years. Moreover, They invested a large fund for research in universities in order to promote scientific research and innovation, and during his term, the National Academy of Science and Technology was established to accommodate and recognize scientists who are experts in science and technology. Additionally, the Philippine Science High School was built in 1986 to further expand the opportunities for students gifted in science, mathematics, and technology.

In addition to that, PAG ASA was established, strengthening the environmental protection and promoting the general welfare of the Philippines as well as infrastructure projects to support the development of science and technology. Although he made several projects proving his vision in developing science and technology in our country, the success of these wasn't assured; these projects faced limitations and challenges due to his dictatorship, which became a hindrance to the success of several Filipinos.

2. If you will be an author of a certain LAW that supports science and technology, how would you name it and what will it contain?

   
   

If I were to be an author of a certain law in relation to promoting science and technology, I would name it "Enriching STEM: Shaping the Future Law" an act that recognizes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as crucial drivers of national development, economic competitiveness, and social progress. This law aims to promote research development and innovations and ensure the effective utilization of scientific and technological advancements for the benefit of all Filipinos. Specific projects will be established in order to foster a sustainable and thriving society:

• Research grants

• Facilities and equipments to support STEM students

• Strengthen STEM related subjects

• Scholarship grants for thriving students to encourage in pursuing STEM career

• Collaborate with international research institutions

- Dr. del Mundo, a pioneering Filipino pediatrician, was deeply committed to improving child healthcare in the Philippines, particularly in rural areas. She recognized that many communities lacked access to electricity, making it difficult to provide proper care for premature or sick newborns. Incubators, crucial for maintaining a stable temperature and environment for vulnerable infants, were often unavailable in these areas. In order to solve this conflict, she came up with this invention of an incubator, which was initially made of bamboo and a kerosene lamp to heat the interior. It was designed to help infants and support premature babies who primarily need to be temporarily warmed.

2. Videophone - Gregorio Zara

- Zara began working on his "two-way television telephone" in the early 1950s. He recognized the potential for combining telephone communication with visual communication, envisioning a future where people could see each other while talking, even over long distances. This vision came to life when he invented the videophone, allowing people to interact and communicate with each other using video and audio, making it the greatest Filipino invention in telecommunications.

3. Eryhtromycin - Dr. Abelardo Aguilar

- Erythromycin is an antibiotic invented by Abelardo Aguilar, he discovered it while working for a pharmaceutical company. Erythromycin antibiotic is still used up to this day to fight for various bacterial infection especially patients with penicilline allergies. This is usually administered orally and its absorption can be affected by food hence why it is often recommended to take with an empty stomach.

4. Karaoke Machine - Roberto Del Rosario

- Del Rosario was granted patents for his Sing-Along System and became known as the patent holder for the karaoke system. This transformed our entertainment and social gathering, now widely used in Filipino household making it one of our cultures for events and occasions that gathers everyone allowing us to appreciate each other's presence and enjoy music.

5. Jeepney - Leonardo S. Sarao

- The Philippine Jeepney, often hailed as the undisputed King of the Road, registers in the minds of many as an icon of Philippine culture. Its inception takes us back to post-World War II Manila, where proper means of public transportation was hard to come by due to the amount of destruction the city had endured. A stroke of creative genius came through by repurposing hundreds of surplus Jeeps left behind by the Americans, offering a viable means of cheap public transportation, and introducing the first generation of the Jeepney that persists to this day.

Jumping off the design from the 1945 Willy jeeps, numerous local makers attempted to repurpose its design to accommodate more passengers. It was Leonardo Sarao and his brothers, founders of Sarao Motors, who rose above the rest with their hallmark design. Jeepney is a standing witness to our nation's evolution through time it became a perfect signature of our culture, we cannot imagine living our daily lives without this transportation.

- Although circumstances in our lives are always unpredictable, I believe that with the right attitude and perseverance, we can face and overcome any obstacle we encounter. For me, a good and fulfilling life begins within ourselves, how we perceive our surroundings, and how we appreciate the small things that we have. We can start by being grateful for what we have, thanking Him for giving us another day to show up for ourselves, having the opportunity to spend more time with our loved ones, and having gratitude for all the blessings we have. The most important thing to do to live a fulfilling life is to have contentment and be appreciative for the life that we have. I believe I'm living a good life because I have my family, who always support me in everything that I do; loving friends whom I could call another "home"; having the privilege to pursue my dream course; and being grateful to God for giving me the strength and wisdom to continuously navigate this path.

To what extent do scientific advancements impact your idea of good life?

- As a young individual, scientific advancements have profoundly impacted how I navigate my life; because of this, everything became easier and definitely bearable. However, I also believe that all these advancements have their own complexities that, if not used ethically and with the proper guidance, it may bring a negative impact to our lives. Hence why I think scientific advancements may influence our idea of a good life depending on how we use them. Are we maximizing the benefit of them? Or are we being overly dependent on it? Specifically, the use of artificial intelligence—which is very rampant for us—or simply by using our devices. For me, it has impacted my life in a way that I know I could rely on it but not to the extent that I would lose my individuality and sanity without the use of it. I still believe that there is a beautiful world waiting for us behind the screen of our phones.

How can you achieve a good life?

- By simply existing with the purpose of actually "living" in it. I will start by waking up and reminding myself that this is another day to be grateful, to remind myself that there's a beautiful life waiting for me in the future, and I will overcome every conflict like I always do, because problems always pass.
