British Impressment was one of the major causes of the War of 1812 because British soldiers would come onto American ships and kidnap Americans to become British soldiers. Another cause was the Native American attacks on Americans in the west. Nationalism was also a cause of the War of 1812 because Americans felt they needed to prove that they could stand on their own two feet.

1812, W.

In 1812, the leader of the Native Americans was Tecumseh. The Battle of Tippecanoe was significant because it determined once and for all the dispute between Native Americans and Americans over land. The Native Americans sided with Britain in the War of 1812 to secure British support for their own war.

Fine Art America. They resented the economic injures and the nation humiliation caused by the Napoleonic Wars. The War Hawks's views a beliefs were one of the reasons the U.S. went into war with Britain.

ThoughtCo. (2018). War Hawks and the War of 1812 Explained.

The Battle of Baltimore was a battle in the War of 1812 that influenced the creation of The Star-Spangled Banner. Following their attack on Washington, DC, the British decided to attack Baltimore because they believed it would be an easy target. Seeing how a successful attack would be impossible, the British withdrew from their original plan and caused great nationalism in America. When Francis Scott Key witnessed the Battle of Baltimore, he was inspired to write the original Star-Spangled Banner poem.

Schulman, M.
