Question 3. What are Roxane Gay's arguments about "Why feminism is flawed"?

- Roxane Gay proposed that the fundamental reason that feminism is flawed is because human beings are flawed, and we are the ones initiating feminist belief and its complementary activities.
- Feminism are designed to be flawed since no one can be perfect, but people sometimes forget that the word "feminism" doesn't correlates to perfection, and therefore we should not put a perfect expectation for everyone who calls themselves a feminist.

Question 4: What do we learn about Roxanne Gay and why she is a Bad Feminist?

We learn that Roxanne Gay believes in a more personalised version of feminism, where the movement in support of women is can be tailored for personal views, opinions and personalities. We learn that this type of feminism has given her peace and power to act as her genuine self.

Roxanne Gay identifies herself as a bad Feminist because she admits that as a human, inevitably she is flawed and states that she is “not trying to be perfect”. Her view on feminism is to support the movement whilst also being herself, however in order to be herself comfortably, some of her actions contradict the core beliefs of feminism such as enjoying pop culture that demonetises women.

Question 5: What are her intentions for this, her collection of essays

The success of feminism can arise out of personal conduct, but a problem is that many young woman do not find some feminist leader they feel they can identify with. Therefore, Roxanne wrote the collection of essays to take the role of leadership by raising her voice as a “bad feminist”, to offer insights on the collective culture and how the audiences might consume it. It also examines other concepts with inclusiveness, such as racism. She is trying to make sense of the world, to raise the voice and show how the world can be better.

The reading suggests how women of color, queer women, and transgender women need to be better included in the feminist project. Feminism nowadays are fundamentally for heterosexual white women, but women with a more variety of identities should be included in the project to make a greater impact.
