The Global Innovation Index (GII) is tasked with assessing the performance of economies, highlighting strengths and gaps, which helped in the recent WIPO statistics.

In 2025, the ranking exceeds the government's target of placing 52nd in the updated Philippine Development Plan.

The WIPO also recognized the country as one of the economies in Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Oceania that made the most significant progress.

The country made strides in key areas: ranking 65th in infrastructure (from 85th), ranking 61st in institutions (from 65th), ranking 38th in knowledge and technology (from 42nd), and 53rd in market sophistication (from 77th) last year.

Meanwhile, the country's rank declines: slipping to 40th spot in the business sophistication pillar (from 37th), in human capital and research to 90th (from 84th), and in creative output to 61st place compared with 60th from last year.

The overall results highlight the standing and ongoing reforms in sectors, noting the rise in ranking in programs such as the innovation-driven economy.
