Hi! My name is Kiersten Kerr, and I am the Teacher Librarian at Coeur d'Alene High School in beautiful Coeur d'Alene Idaho. I am super excited about all things school libraries! I served as the School Library Advisor for the Idaho Library Association last year, and just spent some time in Boise helping to create a model school library program for our state department of ed and legislature to encourage more support for our libraries and librarians!! Hi there! I am the Teacher Librarian for both Medical Lake Middle School and Medical Lake High School. I have also been our Middle School Athletic Director for the last 8 years. I resigned that position and I am excited to now use all of that "spare time" to create new opportunities for students in our libraries! Our district was awarded a DoD grant for technology; our HS students all have Chromebooks this year and next year our MS students will have them. I enjoy helping teachers use technology in their classrooms and I am excited to learn more at this conference.

I would also say that my favorite job it being a mom! My oldest is 22; he is currently doing an electrician apprenticeship. My youngest is a senior at MLHS. He plans to attend EWU this fall. GO EAGS!

Hi everyone! I'm Rachel Flores and I am the Teacher Librarian at Kingston High School in Kingston, Washington. I was an English teacher and college professor in Florida for 12 years before moving across the country to become a librarian and pursue my National Board Certification. I am one of the technology advocates and trainers in my district and have been pushing a future ready initiative at my school to help integrate more library services into the day to day offerings for our teachers.

I have an amazing hubby who also works as a teacher in my district and 3 wonderful kiddos. My oldest begins college next year and my younger two will both be with me at KHS next year with my youngest being a freshman and my middle kiddo being a junior.

I am a Potterhead! So of course my photo is me representing my proud Hufflepuff status!

Hello! I am Hanna Hermes and this is my first year as the librarian at Cavelero Mid High School in Lake Stevens, WA. Before this, I taught 9th grade English and support classes. Hello! I am a teacher librarian/media specialist at Glacier High School in Kalispell, Montana. GHS has a gorgeous library with windows facing Glacier National park and the Whitefish Mountain ski resort.
I am a mother of 4 awesome kids and grandmother to 5 sweet babies. My husband recently retired after 34 years of teaching middle school math, tech and library. I look forward to joining him in retirement in a few short years! Together we love to travel, cook, read, enjoy family time, fish, camp and so much more.
I have a K-8 teaching degree, k-12 special ed degree and a masters in Library and Information Science. I have been a teacher for 24 years now.Although I taught SpEd for 8 years my passion is definitely working with high school students in the library.
GHS is a 9-12 high school serving 1200+ students. I am very fortunate to have an amazing teaching partner whom I have taught with for 13 years. My partner Kerrie focuses on print resources while I focus on non-print and tech. We both do direct research instruction with all classes and collaborate with our teachers. In addition to my library duties I am a technology mentor in our building supporting teachers in their quest to use technology proficiently. I also order, install & maintain all AV equipment in the building such as TVs, digital projectors, smart boards, etc.
I LOVE MY JOB! I look forward to picking up new ideas and skills at NCCE that I can bring back to GHS.

Hi all. My name isTrish O’Connor and I am the elementary teacher-librarian at Hallett Elementary in Medical Lake, WA. I was a classroom teacher for several years prior to being in the library. I collaborate with our STEM coach to present science content and literacy lessons to our kids. I earned my National Board Cert in 2014 in literacy. My name is Claire Elam and I will be the middle school librarian at Saigon South International School (SSIS) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam next school year. This will be my first job as a teacher-librarian, but I have been a middle school ELA teacher since 2006. Currently, I sub part-time at Madison Middle School in West Seattle. My name is Jesse Hinds. I am a teacher librarian at Elmhurst Elementary in the Franklin Pierce school district, just south of Tacoma, WA. This is only my second year as a librarian, and I couldn't be luckier! Not new to teaching, but still new to this job, and loving it. Looking forward to the conference, it is my second time going and if it is anything like last time it will be a good one. Particularly excited about this workshop- the more indispensable I can be to the staff, the longer I get to do this gig!

I'm excited to attend NCCE for the first time, from Icicle River Middle School in Leavenworth. I'm in my 4th year as the library technician for 6,7,8th. I got my MLIS at UW, worked for 10 years in public, government and corporate libraries, raised a family, and worked in nonprofits. I am now very happy at my local middle school. Collaboration is the key to success here. We have great teachers, students, and a culture of readers. I am eager to keep learning!

This will be my last year in my current library space, because I will be moving into our new school that is being built in the field behind my building!
