My question is dealing with the hidden feelings and emotions behind facial or body expressions. For this piece, I created a girl looking to the side to express a feeling of insecurity within her facial expressions. I worked big because you can really get the details that make the picture, like in the eyes and the position of the face. Facial expressions are super personal because it's how you're feeling inside and sometimes it's hard to hide. In my piece I am expressing that idea of silence. Silence is so relatable to everyone and it has so much to do with body emotions to express something so simple like plugging your ears. When you look at my piece and plug your ear you can get a sense of what it feels like to be in that mindset and really relate to the drawing. Silence is so complicated because everyones expresses it and experiences it in a different way.

This piece, Falling out, shows the expression your body makes when you can't hold in your emotion any longer. This piece shows the moment you fall to the ground and cry, like you just saw it happen. This piece is inspired by the artist Clara lieu. She investigates the human face and its extreme emotional expressions and is known for doing lots of her works on the human body.​ Her works fit well with my sustained investigation question and relate to the works I have done so far. I took inspiration from her falling: emerge pieces but I added more realistic exaggerated human features to the face to make the piece look very dramatic. This work holds so much emotion that it makes each individual feel like they can relate to a time when they felt vulnerable.

-I have learned that there is so much more to explore with my topic. I have started to make works that are more hidden and very personal and up close. I thought I would just be working with faces but I have extended my abilities.

2. What is one tecnique or skill you have learned over the course of making these SI works?
-I learned that I need to draw a small drawing of my reference photo before I start my big works and it helps me throughout the process.

Clothes and cloth cover up so much of what we don’t want people to see. This piece, curtsy, expresses the real emotions and insecurities hidden behind the fancy clothes. It represents what you really feel inside, but not looking the part from the outside.
