ReLiEF has put together a comprehensive campaign encouraging districts to promote CAP month and increase awareness of abuse prevention. The main components of the campaign are listed below.

2026 Contest Raffle Process

Each district can now earn raffle entries for a chance to win! Here’s how:

• Watch & Learn – 1 raffle entry for watching a short video, “5 Things You Should Know About Child Abuse Prevention,” (one submission per participant).

• Show Your Support – 25 raffle entries for submitting at least one photo of your district participating in Child Abuse Prevention Month.

• Webinar #1 – April 1, 2026: State of the State: Programs & Initiatives Transforming Services for Children & Families: Learn how diverse programs are preventing child maltreatment and promoting family stability at every stage of the child welfare continuum, from primary prevention through ongoing care. Attendees will have the option to select one of six breakout sessions, each led by subject matter experts covering a range of topics in child welfare policy, prevention, and support services.  

One of the breakout sessions will be the launch of the Assembly Bill (AB) 2085 Training Pilot: AB 2085 is a landmark shift in how California approaches mandated reporting, moving away from a one-size-fits-all reporting mandate and toward a more thoughtful, supportive response for families. To help the field understand and apply this law, we are piloting an AB 2085 training during our first webinar of the series. This is your chance to learn more about what the law means and how it impacts your role. 

• Webinar #2 – April 8, 2026: If Help Had Come First: Lived Experts on Community Pathways: A panel of lived experts reflects on their child welfare experiences and the community-based supports that could have strengthened their families before system involvement ever occurred. 

• Webinar #3 – April 15, 2026: Reimagining Mandated Reporting: Building Prevention-Focused Pathways for Families: This webinar explores efforts to reform mandated reporting and shift toward prevention-centered approaches that connect families to the right support while reducing unnecessary system involvement. 

• Webinar #4 – April 22, 2026: Concrete Supports in Action: Meeting Family Needs to Prevent Crisis: This session examines how concrete supports like housing, food, and financial assistance stabilize families, prevent child welfare involvement, and strengthen long-term well-being. 

• Webinar #5 – April 29, 2026: Self-Care Tools for High-Impact Care Teams: This session equips participants with practical, body-based self-care tools to manage stress and prevent burnout — including nervous system resets that can be adapted for clients, while addressing the organizational risks of compassion fatigue and turnover. 

These tools and resources help you engage families, uplift parent and caregiver leadership, and raise awareness about prevention in meaningful and visible ways. We invite you to use, share and adapt these resources throughout the month.

• 26^th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Symposium: April 8, 2026

  Every year on the 2^nd Wednesday of April, the Children's Services Coordinating Commission hosts it's annual event to continue it's child abuse prevention efforts across San Joaquin County. 

• San Joaquin County Proclamation – April 14, 2026 at 9:00 AM
  The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors will officially recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, reaffirming the County’s commitment to protecting children and strengthening families.

• Wear Blue Day – April 10, 2026
  Community members are encouraged to wear blue to show their support for child abuse prevention. Share photos on social media to help raise awareness.

• Collins Electric Goes Blue
  Collins Electric will illuminate its facility in blue—the national color of child abuse prevention—symbolizing hope and a commitment to a safer future for children. (Photo available for media use.)

• Blue Sunday
  Faith communities across San Joaquin County will participate in a national day of awareness, offering support and education on child abuse prevention.

• Billboards & Public Awareness Campaigns
  Messages throughout the county will promote prevention, resources, and ways the community can take action.

• Pinwheel Gardens
  Businesses, organizations, and community members are encouraged to plant Pinwheel Gardens—the national symbol of child abuse prevention—to show support for children and families.

1. It provides necessary information to the public about an official’s personal financial interests to ensure that officials are making decisions in the best interest of the public and not enhancing their personal finances.
   

2. It serves as a reminder to the public official of potential conflicts of interest so the official can abstain from making or participating in governmental decisions that are deemed conflicts of interest.
