Cole and I felt our first performance of our duet went really well.
After a long process of setting the work so that it’s Filled with a bit of a storyline like in the musical, so that we can take the audience on a journey between the too characters amd not just sing the song to the audience.

I felt in this performance our harmonies are blended strong, and confident and we are performance ready.

For costuming we wanted to match slightly too make it clear to the audience that we are similar and match one and others personalities and mindset, as well as too show we are from the same show not just wearing anything that might just appear ‘nice’.

Feedback:

Although our piece at this stage is well set, Marcus feedback helped us realise that we aren’t translating the real story of Amelie but instead we appear to be possibly going through a break up. The piece looks as though the characters are saying good bye, when in reality they are at the beginning of their relationship and are a bit confused but smitten.

Marcus suggested that we played around with this idea and try to make them seem look more excited like they are falling for each other. The characters need to play giddy lustfull people and at the moment we are playing what the songs sounds like it should be about rather than the deeper meaning behind it all.

In the video Marcus gives us advice to think about to help us connect with these characters on a deeper level.

We also had a note off Adam that sometimes we snap in and out of the scene, for example when singing the “ooooohh” section we appear slightly unconnected from the rest of the performance.

How we have applied our feedback ready for the final performance:

In this video we focus less on the vocals but more on the staging and performance elements that we received feedback from.

We decided to apply the feedback, and change the vibe of the scene, so that Cole and I appear to be falling in love but are unsure of where we can go next, is there a future with each other in it? Should we take a chance? We did this by changing our facial expressions, as well as change the focus to be more on one and other.

We also added in staging for the “oooh” section to show our connection is strengthening but then separate too show our fear of falling in love. The whole piece we separate and come back together and repeat too show our uncertainty of what the future holds.
