         <description><![CDATA[<p>My cultural background is strongly rooted in my Spanish heritage, which has shaped my identity, values, and worldview in meaningful ways. Growing up in a Spanish household, I was taught the importance of family, respect, and hard work. Traditions such as gathering for meals, celebrating cultural holidays with music and dance, and honoring our elders have always been central in my life. These moments not only connect me to my heritage but also remind me of the strength and pride that come from embracing one’s culture.</p><p>If I were to include visuals, I would showcase traditional Spanish foods, cultural celebrations like fiestas with music and dancing, and family gatherings that highlight togetherness and love. These images reflect the warmth, passion, and unity that are such an important part of my heritage.</p><p>My Spanish cultural identity influences my worldview by encouraging me to appreciate diversity and recognize the beauty in different perspectives. It has instilled in me a sense of respect for others, no matter their background, and a belief in the power of community. In terms of teaching philosophy, this means creating a classroom where every student feels welcome, valued, and represented. I plan to incorporate multicultural literature, activities, and projects that allow students to share their own cultural traditions, fostering an environment of mutual respect and inclusivity. My goal is to celebrate differences while also helping students see the common values—like respect and kindness—that unite us all.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Racism continues to be a challenge in education, creating barriers that prevent many students from reaching their full potential. It can appear in subtle ways, such as lowered expectations, lack of cultural representation in curriculum, or unequal access to resources, as well as in more obvious forms like discrimination or exclusion. Historical examples, such as the era of segregated schools in the United States, remind us of the long-lasting damage inequity causes. Even today, we see gaps in achievement and opportunity that show racism is still an issue we must actively confront.</p><p>Personally, I’ve witnessed how students thrive when they feel their culture is represented and respected. For example, I’ve seen students light up when a book, lesson, or classroom activity reflects their heritage, while others have felt left out when their backgrounds were ignored. These experiences emphasize the importance of diversity and representation in every classroom.</p><p>Integrating a Christian worldview provides a powerful foundation for addressing racism and promoting diversity. Christian principles of love, compassion, and respect for all people remind us that every student is made in God’s image and is equally valuable. By living out these values, educators can cultivate a classroom where differences are celebrated rather than ignored, and where each student feels a sense of belonging. When students experience Christlike love and acceptance, they are more likely to extend the same kindness to one another.</p>]]></description>

Growing up with values like respect, kindness, and perseverance taught within my family and culture has influenced the way I interact with people in meaningful ways. I have come to see that knowing and embracing my own cultural identity helps me better appreciate and honor the identities of others, which is essential as I prepare for my role as an educator.</p><p>My goals for personal growth include continuing to strengthen my awareness of different cultures, examining my own biases, and learning new strategies to support students from diverse backgrounds. I want to remain open to growth through professional development, collaboration with colleagues, and most importantly, listening to my students and their families.</p><p>In the classroom, I aim to foster an environment that respects and celebrates diversity by integrating multicultural materials, encouraging students to share their stories, and creating lessons that highlight a variety of cultural perspectives.
