Main Idea

I don't have a complete understanding of the concept of transmission from the reading alone but I think Ratliff's thinking of transmission is kind of like the Canon; this idea of something being passed on and slightly retouched. Although, transmission is about what a certain song gives to the listener. It allows the listener to really grasp the words and idea behind the song. I do think it is an important element in ay musical piece because it really connects the music with the listener's emotions. It allows people to gain something from what they hear and experience from the music alone. Its a way for music to essentially be passed on and on again throughout years to come. Artists have to think about this idea so they can make something that will really have an impact and do this act of transmission instead of just creating a one-hit wonder that dies out after two weeks or so.

This song is kind of like The Beatles's song with the singing staying on a couple notes but the lyrics have a deeper meaning that you have to listen for, also the backbeat picks up a bit but the vocals stay relatively in that same peaceful melody they started at (until the end but then it resolves again).
