Trump Doing What He Said He Would Do On Environment

Trump is continuing to push to erase Obama's work on the environment and trying to produce more clean energy. Obama hoped to decrease of 32% in carbon emissions over 15 years. That seems to be coming to an end as trump wants to get rid of the plan. Trump wants to reopen the coal industry. Reopening the coal industry would help boost the economy but at a large environmental cost. Trump erasing Obama's plans doesn't look good to other countries that we pledged our word to. Obama had worked with countless nations to help solve the problem of climate change. After convincing and agreeing on large plans, trump will turn his back on those nations. This in Turn will make it difficult for America to work with these nations in the future. Though Trump is acting now on his plans it will take awhile for his plans to actually take effect, but eventually his plans will have an effect on the environment.

http://www.dispatch.com/news/20170330/trump-doing-what-he-said-hed-do-on-environment

California Overdue for a Large Earthquake

California is long overdue for a large earthquake. This earthquake could potentially be up to a 7.4 magnitude on the rictor scale. The last major earth quake on the same fault was in 1933 and that earthquake was a 6.4 magnitude that killed 115 people. A study looked at 4 parts of the fault and noticed that they are off set, and this offset could lead to a potential rupture in the near future. The study also found that the same parts of the fault had ruptured badly 5 times in the past 11,000 years; and the last one was about 400 years ago. Even a moderate earthquake could prove to have huge consequences, especially for the more heavily populated areas like San Diego and San Francisco. but a more huge earthquake like a 7.4 could be disastrous for those who live on the west coast near the San Andreas fault.

http://nypost.com/2017/03/08/california-fault-line-overdue-for-a-massive-earthquake/

Vatican and U.S. church leaders urge Trump to reconsider environmental rollback

Multiple world leaders have been reaching our to Donald Trump to reconsider his plans having to do with the environment. Particularly leaders from the Vatican in Italy. These leaders believe that if nothing is done now to help the environment that soon it will be too late to do anything. These leaders are urging trump to look at his decisions more carefully, and to keep a lot of the groundwork that President Obama had layed out for the world. Vatican leaders are also depending on the american people and protesters to help get this message across. Trump plans to revamp the coal industry to create jobs and help stimulate the economy, “We’re ending the theft of American prosperity and rebuilding our beloved country,” Mr. Trump said. Dan Misleh, the head of the Catholic Covenant had a interesting thought on how trumps plan would effect the environment and humans. “By rolling back current and proposed federal rules designed to reduce greenhouse gas pollution from the power sector as well as discounting the social costs of fossil fuels, the Trump administration is jeopardizing not only the long-term sustainability of our planet, but the immediate health and well-being of those with the fewest resources: the poorest and most vulnerable people at home and abroad,”. Many world leaders are disappointed in this turn of events, many had great relations and deal with america while Obama was in office. It will be difficult for these countries to make more environmental deals with The United States after trump has turned his back on them.

http://www.americamagazine.org/politics-society/2017/03/30/vatican-and-us-church-leaders-urge-trump-reconsider-environmental

UN launches campaign to take out ocean trash

* million metric tons of garbage finds it way to the ocean anualy, which is the same as dumping a garbage truck into the ocean every minute. The UN has planned to try to clean up the ocean of a lot of its trash. At the current rate we are going at, 2050 will be a year where our oceans trash weighs more than all of its fish. The UN hopes that nations will change regulations to help consumers use less plastic materials such as plastic bags and plastic water bottles. "Ten different countries had already joined the campaign at the time of its launch, UNEP said. Indonesia, for instance, pledged to reduce marine litter by 70 percent by 2025, while Uruguay announced a tax on single-use plastic bags slated to take effect later this year. Costa Rica, for its part, said it planned to reduce single-use plastic through better waste management and education." DELL computers has made efforts to reduce waste by using ocean plastics to package their products, and other companies have followed the same path to reduce their footprint when it comes to plastic products.

http://www.eco-business.com/news/un-launches-campaign-to-take-out-ocean-trash/

Why discovering new Earth-like planets matters

About seven years ago astronomers couldnt tell you if there were any earth like planets. These days technology as enabled us to find new solar systems with planets similar to where Earth is in our solar system. More specifically a solar system named TRAPPIST-1 system has multiple planets that are distance from the sun where life may be possible. This system is only a mere 40 light years away, but still too far for humans to travel to anytime soon. in the meantime scientists are trying to see if these planets have liquid water and sustainable life. but the technology is not therefor scientists to decide this yet. To find a planet with life many things need to happen. it needs to be a certain distance from the sun, it needs water, and a sustainable atmosphere. having all three is difficult to achieve but not impossible, and scientists are looking for planets with those characteristics.

http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2017/03/finding-earth-planets-important-trappist-1-nasa-170302100258232.html

NASA May Have Accidentally Discovered Faster-Than-Light travel

During a light experiment in nasa the scientists conducting the experiment may have accidentally discover faster-than-light speed travel. "A team at NASA may have unintentionally accelerated particles to faster-than-light speeds while using the EmDrive resonance chamber - basically, if their findings turn out to be accurate, the team may have just discovered faster-than-light travel." for years scientists have argued whether it is even possible to travel faster than light. Light travels at approximately 186,000 miles per second. Light speed is achievable, but even if our spaceships could travel at light peed, it would take years to get to another solar system. that is why scientists are o interested in traveling faster than light, to make future space travel almost instantaneous. another challenege is getting the human body to withstand exteme speeds. the fastest speed humans have reached is 39,897 kph. That's approximately 0.0037% the speed of light.

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/49360/20150428/nasa-may-have-accidentally-discovered-faster-than-light-travel.htm
