This next week is Teacher Appreciation week! IHS Key Club wants to honor our teachers by allowing students to share their appreciation. These can be short letters or videos, and they can address a whole department or a specific teacher. You don't have to be in their class to say thank you. All of our IHS staff have worked so hard this year, even during these tough circumstances. Let's thank them for their hard work!

You have served as such a mentor to me for the last two years! Thank you for always pushing me to do better and encouraging me in class:) You have taught me so much about writing and composing essays, and I am so grateful for it because through your lessons I have grow so much as a writer and student! I cannot believe that it’s been almost two years since I first got to be in your English class and now in Seminar. Time really does fly when you’re having fun. I love your welcoming, kind, open-minded personality and the way you teach. Thank you for teaching me how to be a better writer and an even better person. I will always admire your ability to have a smile on your face everyday. Your class was and is a safe, happy place that I will always cherish. I hope you have a wonderful rest of this year and summer.

Hey Coach Jennings, I know it's been hard not getting to see me every other day, but you're a tough guy, I'm sure you can get through it. I hope you've stayed entertained at home during quarantine, picked up a new random hobby or something like that. It's tragic that we won't share another 2nd period A day English class, but I assure you that we will see each other next year, and don't worry I'm still just as crazy as you remember.

Thank you for being such a caring and comforting teacher. I surely missed you over this fourth quarter; wish I got to see you. I am so so thankful to have had you for three years in a row. It’s so sad that our last year is ending like this, but thank you for everything you’ve done for me. You’ve always been a teacher I know I can talk to a goof around with! Freshman year, Humanities scared the 🤬 out of me but knowing I had teachers that cared about me helped so so so much. I am so glad we were able to form a relationship early on and that it continues to grow. I can’t eat at Subway without thinking of you still and I think I am still receiving those messages. Thank you so much Mrs. Stanley for being such an amazing teacher. I am so lucky that I got to have you as a teacher for 3 years!!! Going into high school I had no interest in writing but you showed me all the nuances and how interesting it can really be. I can confidently say that English is now one of my favorite classes. Without a doubt Amstud is the best class I ever took and that's thanks to the amazing teachers. It's the one class that I would walk into and not be sad about going to school. Thank you for being so encouraging and kind. I'm going to miss not having you next year!!! But I promise I'll still visit.

Mrs Stanley, you are one of the teachers that has taught me the longest at IHS. You have seen me grow from the shy, quiet freshman into what I am today. Thank you for choosing to be a Humanities and AmStud teacher! I couldn’t be more happy that I was able to learn from you for all three years of high school. I really appreciate all the effort you put in to make AmStud a fun and relaxing learning environment. I never really had confidence in my writing skills before high school. But I think over the past few years, with your teaching, I see a lot of improvement in myself. Thank you so much for helping me overcome my challenges. For always being there to help. For being a part of the GT family that I will always love and remember. Thank you for giving me confidence when I most need it and supporting me when I feel lost. I hope you are doing well! I just wanted to let you know what an amazing teacher you are. You have such a sweet and caring personality and I absolutely loved your class. I really liked reading all of the novels during class, because you made them so engaging and interesting! I even made many friends in your class! In the beginning of the year, I did not have that much confidence in my writing abilities, but you helped me change that. I could go to you when I needed any help, and because of your support and motivation, I was able to have confidence in myself! Although our Lit class was kind of all over the place from the beginning, I'm so grateful for you and how much effort you put into teaching our class. You showed us unconditional compassion and pushed us to be our best! I don't consider English one of my best classes, but you always motivated me to be better, even when you moved to a different class. I'm so happy that you're able to stay at IHS! The IHS English department is really complete with you in it :)

I'm honestly at a loss for words right now, and I can't really begin to sum up how much I'm thankful for you being in my life from freshman year to now. Thank you for helping me edit college stuff/feel confident in my writing. Thank you so much for dealing with the chaos that is GT! I'm so glad you're teaching AmStud, because I don't think anybody would teach GT Lit better. I hope you and you're family are doing well!

Senior English IV was one to remember. It has been such an honor to get a glimpse into your busy and full life! Your classes this year got the privilege of seeing how you handle plans not going as imagined. You were so intentional on not letting your job suffer, answering students questions almost immediately and being involved with all of the assignments. You make it a point to let your students know that you care about their well being more then the academic work we have to complete. Thank you so much for being a good mom to your three kiddos and also embodying hospitality everywhere you go.

When I first entered your classroom, I honestly thought that I wouldn't be able to enjoy the class mainly because my friends were not there. Clearly I was proven wrong, because although I did not talk a lot in that class, I felt like it was one of my best classes ever. It was fun while it lasted and I hope my classes next year can be as enjoyable as this one. Thank you so much for being my English teacher this year and mentoring us, because although English was one of my least favorite classes, it was by far one of my most favorite classes this year mostly due to you. You are always one of the chill and funny teachers who encourage our nonsense and I appreciate that. I really hope I see you next year and I also hope that you have a great summer!!
