The sentence is "They use their influence to sway politicians to enact laws authorizing the sterilization of citizens with "heredity defects," including epilepsy, criminality and alcoholism." (p. 93, Daughter of Family G)
I identified the ending as a suffix which was tion. We know from our list of suffixes that tion means the act or process.
Once we remove the suffix from the word, we are left with Steriliz(e). I've added the e that was dropped when tion was added.
Sterilize means to make pure.
So, the full meaning of the word sterilization is the process of making pure.

5. Rewrite the sentence with the root word definition and the prefix or suffix.
