At the age of 76, Henry Fonda became the oldest actor to be presented the Best Actor award, for the film On Golden Pond (1981). my opinion - I think it is incredible that older people have a chance to win too. I don't think that anyone would think of a grandfather or a grandmother would be honored all over the world.

On July 8 this year, at the age of 85, Sir Ronald Harvud, playwright and screenwriter, "Came to Eternity". He won an Oscar statuette for his screenplay for Pianist in 2003, an honorable film award. And its roots are in Plungė, the artist's father was born and spent his childhood in our city. This year marks the 15th anniversary of this famous person’s first and last visit to his father’s homeland.

I chose this fact because it marks the day were new, better quality films started to become popular. This also marks the day when the film industry took it's first step into creating amazing, full of special effects and wonderful background music films.

I think this fact is unbelievable, because Walt Disney created animated films and it's really hard to create this type of films. I think he deserves it.

'The Hurt Locker' broke another film industry record when it bagged six Oscars out of a total of nine nominations - including the coveted Best Picture gong - as the lowest grossing movie to ever win at the Oscars. It is estimated to have earned $21 million at the box office, that's less than 2% of what it's competitor 'Avatar' made in ticket sales in the same year.

I think it shows that you don't need to spend that much money to get a good result. All you need is talent and hard work.

winning an award for Best Actress for Cabaret (1972), Liza Minnelli became the only Oscar recipient whose parents were Oscar winners too. Her mother, Judy Garland, received an honorary award in 1939 and her father, Vincente Minnelli, won Best Director for Gigi (1958).

I've chosen this fact because It's the first family what every family member got a Oscar. I think that you can be very proud if your every family member got an Oscar, because that's a huge honor to be part of this family.

First African American winner.

In 1964, Sidney Poitier became the first African American to win the Best Actor award, for his role in Lilies of the Field (1963).

I think that it's very cool and I'm very happy about it. More people of colour should be nominated for different kind of awards.

How the Oscars statue was created

Art director Cedric Gibbons was one of the first members of the academy to come up with the design of the Oscar statuette. To create the statue, Gibons needed a model to pose for.Then he met Gibonson with Mexican actress Emilia Fernandes. She became the model for this statue.

I would never have thought that to create this little statue you need to pose for a real person.

Film with the most oscar nominations
First up was black and white film All About Eve in 1950. 50 years later, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio's doomed love story 'Titanic' sank all competition.

I chose this fact because it was interesting to know wich film has the most nominations. Accept that I wasn't really surprised that this particular film has the most nominations.

The most Expensive Oscar Winner
'Avatar' holds the crown for most expensive movie ever to win an Oscar with a production budget estimated to be around $280 million. While it failed to win Best Picture or Best Director, it did pick up Academy Awards for Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects.

This fact shows that just because a movie was really expensive and has spectacular visual effects it doesn't mean that it is going to win a lot of awards. I chose to write about this because I found it interesting and the movies budget shocked me.

The oldest person to win an Oscar was Jessica Tandy at the age of 81. She won the Best Actress Award for her part in 'Driving Miss Daisy'.

I chose this fact because, I think that it's amazing how no matter how old she was she still won this huge reward. I mean it doesn't matter how old you are if you work hard enough everything is possible.
