This book is filled with words of the wiser signposts that readers will enjoy. One example of a words of the wiser on page 111 is "A lot of people will tell you that the first thing you have to learn is how to take a punch. But I believe the first thing you should know is that you can take one and survive." This is Max giving Karl his first lesson. My dad would definitely love this book and I recommend it to him.

One example is when Karl's school expelled all Jewish students just because of their religion. Frank Foley was a British secret agent who played the role of passport control officer and he illegally stamped many Jews' passports so that they could escape.
