Sohrab survives his suicide attempt, so it isn't very necessary to the plot. By putting that scene in the movie, it could confuse viewers or distract from the plot because it would be such a graphic sight.

It also would more graphic to see someone kill themselves in a movie. Also it is morally wrong for someone of a muslim/arabic background to kill themselves.Suicide is the act of ending one's own life. It is considered a sin in many religions and a crime in some jurisdictions. It also builds the man vs. self conflict storyline and it takes away from the author's message and purpose of the story when it isn't included. Seeing a suicide scene might trigger some, considering how touchy it is. But, we feel it was a bad idea to take it out because if you're going to film a book, we should keep it as original to the book as possible
