I included this video because it made me think about the assessments that the students would be taking and how I can prepare them to be successful. I need to ask the question of "what strategies do they need to be successful and how can I teach them those strategies?" It made me think about my teaching as well as the assessments.

I included this video because I like the idea of having a way to visually document the progress of the students. I think that this would be more beneficial in a separate classroom that way the students don't get discouraged or made fun of for their level. Also I think that it is great for the students to be able to move and working with other staff to ensure that the student is making progress.

This video talks about text complexity and what to do with the texts you have. This video is particularly related to adapting reading instruction because you need to think about what the students are going to have trouble with. Once this is done, you can plan instruction accordingly to make sure that the student has strategies to use.

This article was helpful for learning the different types of assessments that can be used. There are many types of reading components that need to be assessed and this article talks about them and the importance of testing all areas to determine future instruction.

I included this article because it dove into more of the instruction aspect of reading. It included strategies to help you better reach all of your students. For example, teach essential skills and strategies, provide explicit and systematic instruction with lots of practice and provide opportunities for students to apply skills and strategies to meaningful text. This article also talks about the difference between a skill and a strategy which was new for me.
