Theme explration

I believe the theme in the book Look Both Ways is friendship. One example is in The Low Cuts when the group gets bits mom ice cream. "So we got you a bunch of ice cream" (Reynolds 40). This quote shows how The Low Cuts bound together, showing their very strong friendship to get Bits' struggling mom some ice cream. Another place in the book where strong friendship is shown is in the story Water Booger Bears. "Who would show up, crack a joke and break some ice" (Reynolds 9). This shows how when Jasmine and T.J. are together they can always have a light-hearted conversation even though they are both struggling with their personal life. I think that friendship is one of most important things in life and that it helps everyone.

There are 2 characters that i feel changed in the book. The first one is bit the whole story he acts so tuff and then when it comes down to he is just a sweet kid trying to get his mom ice cream. "bit's fist fist went into his mouth so fast fast it knocked him out out." (Reynolds 24). This Quote shows how bit is tuff and willing to stand up for his friends but towards the end of the book we see a different side a very nice.

I feel in the book Look Both Ways I feel Jason Reynolds uses a ton of symbolism. Symbolism makes the readers experience a lot better, making an enhanced picture for the reader. The way the story is written makes you pay attention to the symbolism as it comes back later in the book in different stories. The stories being interconnected makes a cool view of the life of these kids as there are many connection connections throughout the book. "Friendship flags, the litter of love." (Reynolds 3). This is one of the more psychological Symbolisms in the book.

In conclusion, I believe that the story looks both ways and is very relevant today as many of the problems in the book take place today in the world. This resonates with some observations and experiences have as I have noticed people seem to hang out with people that have common similarities with them. My thesis was beneficial for rewording and rewardable to everyone. This is shown as a ton. As in the book, I believe the key points are how, if you have friendships, you can always find them.
