In December 1964 the first march to Washington against the war took place. it was the greatest anti-war demonstration in American history with 25,00 people.
More and more Americans started to turn against the war as it continued, mostly because they were upset by the use of chemical weapons, The decision to introduce conscription also increased the young men level of protest.
