         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nutrition deficiencies in pregnant Vietnamese women<br> Anemia Significance to Public Health According to WHO, nutritional anemia is a condition that occurs when concentration of hemoglobin in the blood falls below its normal rate due to lack of one or more nutrients necessary for process of hematopoiesis, regardless of their cause. Anemia due to iron deficiency is the most common nutritional anemia, which can be combined with deficiency of folic acid, especially during pregnancy and in women of childbearing age. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> A diet rich in iron absorption inhibitors such as phytate and tannins. That diet will not ensure demand for iron for subjects with high demand of iron. For women of childbearing age, the amount of iron lost in menstrual period is 1.25 mg per day. Pregnant women need a total of 1,000 mg of iron to supplement placenta, fetus and increase in volume of mother's blood. That demand is not evenly distributed during pregnancy but focuses on final months, up to 6.3 mg / day. On the other hand, the amount of iron storage in bodies of women before pregnancy is often low, thus during pregnancy, anemia becomes more severe. Poor maternal weight gain in pregnancy due to inadequate diet increases the risk of premature delivery, low birth weight and birth defects.<br><br></div><div><br>Malnutrition stunting the growth of Vietnamese children under 5 years old is still at a high level. This  is partly caused by nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy and lactation. As reported by the National Institute of Nutrition, the rate of stunting due to malnutrition in Vietnamese children was 24.6% in 2015; the rate of zinc deficiency in pregnant women was 80.3%, and that of anemia was 32.8%. The leading cause of anemia and micronutrient deficiencies in pregnant women is inadequate maternal nutrition.<br><br></div>]]></description>
