The Soala was only discovered in 1992 near us in Vietnam. Soala means spindle horns in Vietnamese. We do not know how many, if any, are left in the wild. Thus, their status is critically endangered. They weigh around 200 lbs, so they are not small. They are threatened because we know very little about them as they were only recently discovered and are hard to find. To help them, we need to learn more about the animal. The species is legally protected from hunting and there are 3 government-run reserves in Vietnam to help breed and raise the number of natural Saola.

Vietnamese Saola

Formerly found in several countries in East and Central Africa south of the Sahara, it is extremely rare and listed as critically endangered. This subspecies is a grazer in grasslands and savanna woodlands. As of 2017, there are only three rhinos of this subspecies left. They all belong to the Dvůr Králové Zoo in the Czech Republic but live in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya and are protected round-the-clock by armed guards. The northern subspecies had very few remaining, with only three confirmed individuals left in 2017 (two females; Fatu, 17 and Najin, 27: and one male; Sudan, 44), all in captivity.

Conservation Status: Critically Endangered, possibly extinct in the wild (red color)

Phan Cong Phuoc Hung
Id 6038109

Like gorillas and chimpanzees, they have been known to use tools.
Giant pandas have been living on the earth for at least 8 million years. They are known as "living fossils" and "Chinese national treasures". The image ambassadors of WWF are the flagship species of biodiversity conservation in the world. According to the survey of the third national giant panda field population, there are less than 1600 wild pandas in the world, belonging to the first class protected animals in China. By the end of October 2011, the number of captive pandas in the country was 333. Giant pandas originally eat meat. After evolution, 99% of the food is bamboo, but the teeth and gastrointestinal tract remain the same. They are still classified as Carnivora, and the risk of anger is comparable to that of other bears. The life span of the giant panda in the field is 18~20 years old, and it can exceed 30 years in the captive state. The giant panda is a endemic species of China. The main existing habitat is the mountains of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu, China.

6038307 : I don’t know why my account become Anonymous!
Status: Vulnerable

The reason for the Giant Panda to be in vulnerable status is mainly because of people hunting and habitat loss. People keep poaching Giant Pandas for their fur. Even though it has been declined, hunters are still hunting other animals in that habitat which continue to 🤬 pandas accidentally. Panda’s primary habitat is in China and since China’s economy is booming and the building of infrastructure are increasing nowadays, it effects in loss of their habitat from destroying their habitat to build roads, buildings and etc. These activities are fragmenting the forest which isolates panda population and prevents from mating.

WWF has been helping the Chinese Government’s National Conservation Program for the giant pandas and its habitat and now, they are able to cover more than 3.8 million acres of forest.

Males most commonly have tusks, and some may even have two. The tusk, which can grow as long as 10 feet, is actually an enlarged tooth. Ongoing research by WWF collaborators indicates that the tusk has sensory capability, with up to 10 million nerve endings inside. The tusk may also play a role in the ways males exert dominance.he

Narwhals spend their lives in the Arctic waters of Canada, Greenland, Norway and Russia. The majority of the world’s narwhals winter for up to five months under the sea ice in the Baffin Bay-Davis Strait area (between Canada and western Greenland). Cracks in the ice allow them to breathe when needed, especially after dives, which can be up to a mile and a half deep. They feed mainly on Greenland halibut, along with other fish, squid and shrimp

Whales, like the narwhal, are at the top of the food chain and have an important role in the overall health of the marine environment. Narwhals are also culturally important to indigenous communities in the Arctic. Like polar bears, the narwhal depends on sea ice for its existence and can be directly impacted by climate change

From stuffed animals to martial arts-trained CGI abominations, we just can’t seem to get enough of the bi-colored beasts. Though their “aww factor” may verge on the cloying, it hasn’t been without effect. China, which is home to the remaining wild population of fewer than 2,500 individuals, has since the late 1980s instituted more stringent habitat protections and poaching has all but ceased. Their status is still tenuous, though. Their range is fragmented and they are still subject to disease, occasional predation, and starvation when large swathes of the bamboo on which they feed completes its life cycle and dies.

Status is critically endangered
The Amur leopard is poached largely for its beautiful, spotted fur. In 1999, an undercover investigation team recovered a female and a male Amur leopard skin, which were being sold for $500 and $1,000 respectively in the village of Barabash, not far from the Kedrovaya Pad reserve in Russia. Agriculture and villages surround the forests where the leopards live. As a result the forests are relatively accessible, making poaching a problem—not only for the leopards themselves, but also for important prey species, such as roe deer, sika deer and hare, which are hunted by the villagers both for food and cash.

At the beginning of the 20th century, 500,000 rhinos roamed Africa and Asia. But today very few rhinos survive outside national parks and reserves due to persistent poaching and habitat loss over many decades. Two species of rhino in Asia—Javan and Sumatran—are critically endangered. A subspecies of the Javan rhino was declared extinct in Vietnam in 2011. A small population of the Javan rhino still clings for survival on the Indonesian island of Java. Successful conservation efforts have helped the third Asian species, the greater one-horned (or Indian) rhino, to increase in number. Their status was changed from Endangered to Vulnerable, but the species is still poached for its horn.

In Africa, southern white rhinos, once thought to be extinct, now thrive in protected sanctuaries and are classified as near threatened. But the western black rhino and northern white rhinos have recently gone extinct in the wild. The only three remaining northern white rhino are kept under 24-hour guard in Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. Black rhinos have doubled in number over the past two decades from their low point of fewer than 2,500 individuals, but total numbers are still a fraction of the estimated 100,000 that existed in the early part of the 20th century.

For males of the smallest subspecies—the Sumatran tiger—upper range is at around 310 pounds. Within each subspecies, males are heavier than females.

Tigers are mostly solitary, apart from associations between mother and offspring. Individual tigers have a large territory, and the size is determined mostly by the availability of prey. Individuals mark their domain with urine, feces, rakes, scrapes and vocalizing.

They are strong swimmer and and climbers and their requirements to survive are large areas of tropical rain forest and stretches of river banks.

Status : Endangered
Reason of Status : Oil and gas development, entanglement in fishing gear, and collisions with ships threaten gray whales. The western North Pacific gray whale is on the verge of extinction because of such threats. The waters off Russia’s Sakhalin Island, a main feeding habitat for them in the summer, are being targeted for oil and gas development. In the eastern Pacific Ocean, the potential for oil and gas exploration in the Bering and Chukchi Seas also exists. Whales are very sensitive to noise and such industrial activities generate massive underwater booms. The gray whale must get an entire year’s worth of food during those summer months and any disruption could have significant impact on this process.
How to protect : WWF and other organizations campaigned to stop an offshore oil drilling platform from being built in that critically endangered population's habitat. In October 2013, the energy company announced that they would postpone construction for five years.

The belly and limbs are black, and there are white markings on the side of the head and above its small eyes. Red pandas are very skillful and acrobatic animals that predominantly stay in trees. Almost 50% of the red panda’s habitat is in the Eastern Himalayas. They use their long, bushy tails for balance and to cover themselves in winter, presumably for warmth. Primarily an herbivore, the name panda is said to come from the Nepali word ‘ponya,’ which means bamboo or plant eating animal.
