Sounds

The instrumentation consists of a drum set, a bass guitar, an electric guitar, organs, a brass instrument, possibly a trumpet, and a vocal duo, male and female, which is a rather standard set up for funk/ska music.

The texture starts very thin, gradually adding instruments with each section, until it settles down with the drums-bass-guitar, whilst the vocals and the brass swap between each section.

As for the dynamics, the track starts rather quietly, with the drums and the electric guitar gradually ascending towards the explosion, which adds the bass guitar and the organs. The section then continues, adding a brass instrument in the next section, which then stops to give the room to the vocals. This pattern of brass-vocal swaps continues on, complimenting each other, up until the guitar solo. Overall, the dynamics stay levelled after the intro, making it feel like a constant wave of sound, with some intersections having quick, rhythmic stops, to accent the change of sections. One thing to notice, is that during the verse, the snare is rather quiet, whilst during the verse/brass part, it gets significantly louder, possibly to accent the tempo, give room to the rest of the instruments, or simply to amplify the sound.

Rhythm
The pulse of the piece of music is set quite fast and with the introduction of extra notes between each beat gives the piece quite a bit of swing. This is also built up by the sequence of notes coming from the other instruments which the articulation of is a set of short notes capped off with a long one for each bar.

The instruments used in the piece are jazz instruments such as saxophone, trumpet, drum kit and voice. In the drum the most prominent parts are the kick drum and snare drum.

In the intro there is only one instrument which is the drum the volume slowly increases which builds up tension waiting for the verse to come in which is when the brass instruments and voice comes in. The texture is homophonic with different sections layered ontop of eachother

There are a number of instruments used within this piece, including electric guitars, bass guitar, snare, hi hat, tom drums and trumpets. If I am correct there are 2 electric guitars in the mix.

There is also a variation of texture throughout the song, with different instruments combining at various parts of the song. This stops the piece from being monotone & becoming boring .
