         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mrs. Cohen is a first grade teacher who attended a workshop on curriculum transformation.  Mrs. Cohen had to upgrade a unit of study in her classroom.  She chose to focus on the story of Flat Stanley.  To make the lesson more technologically advanced she decided to create a podcast with her students using the application called Garage Band.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mrs. Cohen spoke with Ms.Taylor another first grade teacher who was more familiar with technology and web-based tools.&nbsp; Ms. Taylor assisted Mrs. Cohen to upload the podcast as a link on her classroom website.&nbsp; Ms. Taylor asked that the individuals who listen to the podcast should write a comment in the post comment box including their first and last names and their location.&nbsp; She also requested that if the comment came from a location discussed by the student to let the student know if their information was accurate and to share something new so that all of the students could learn about the destination</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Each student had to select a travel destination to research with the goal of including the destinations highlights in the podcast.  The students research their destination by reading and listening to informational books, looking at photos and researching on the internet to learn about one cultural tradition, one tourist attraction and weather patterns.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Flat Stanley podcast lesson plan required brainstorming between Mrs. Cohen and Ms. Taylor.  They discussed using potential technology and web-based tools.  The original lesson plan was about writing and illustrating a big book.  Mrs. Cohen said that creating a podcast would help her students to embrace the competency of writing for varied purposes and tasks.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A podcast is a digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer and made available as a series similar to a television show. &nbsp;<br>SoundCloud is the world's leading social sound platform where anyone can listen to or create sounds.&nbsp; You can record and upload sounds to SoundCloud and share them privately or publicly to friends, blogs, and social media networks. I have never completed a podcast so this was new to me.&nbsp; Although I have listened to some online.&nbsp; I would like to attempt to do a podcast maybe on music theory.&nbsp; I think that would be a fun way to teach theory.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Garage Band is an application that allows you to write, compose and create music.&nbsp; By using Garage Band you can record, arrange and mix your song with up to thirty-two tracks. &nbsp;I have not used Garage Band myself as of yet.  I do plan to use it in the future. I have used Finale Software to write and compose my own scores. <br><br></div>]]></description>
