This was to indicate that they were Jewish to others, like german soldiers. Because of this, German soldiers would beat them and denied service to them. Simply because they were Jewish. The Star would indicate that they would be sent to the ghettos, stated in Chapter 1. There they were stripped of their belongings and were denied other basic human rights and luxuries. By far, the German discrimination of Jewish people was the most prominent thing is this story. Though this a quote that most people would simply read past, it does show a lot about how the German viewed the Jewish. Music is a precious thing, one that can distinguish ones character and a society in many situations. The Germans would not allow Jewish people to play their music, because they thought it was wrong and disgusting for a Jew to play their music. How they thought the Jewish was a disease, and that they may infect their views and "beauties" of life.

A very simple and large issue is the discrimination of African-Americans, Latins, Muslims, and other non-white races. The black community is often the most oppressed, with high powers and white privilege against them. Often black people are targeted by police brutality, sometimes resulting in death or imprisonment. Their aren't actual movements being made to help these people in the government because the system dating all the way back to 18th century, when slaves were still bound, has been against black people. I've been taught that I would have to work harder then others to get farther.
I've been taught that while other will have things handed to them simply because they're a man or white, I would have to fight for it, simply because I'm a woman and not white.
I have been taught that because I am a woman, I will be thought to be weak and insignificant. That my opinion doesn't matter, and that I'll never be able to achieve things as great or as high as a man would.
I have been taught that because I am black and hispanic, that I will be thought to be dangerous and unworthy. That I'm a danger to society and that I'm stupid and reckless.
My whole life growing up, from how I've been treated, to how people have looked at me, from being treated unfairly, to being utterly afraid of the world and its dangers, I have been told all I'll be, and all I'm worth.
I am a victim of discrimination.
And I'm tired of people telling me what I will be.
Im tired of the worlds views on me dictating my life and making a statement on who I am just because of who I was born to be.
