Under Their Skin by Margaret Peterson Haddix

This is a book that my grandma recommended to me. I've read other books written by Margaret Peterson Haddix, such as Among The Hidden and Among the Brave. But, this books stands out above the rest. It's about 12 year old twins Nick and Eryn who just found out their mom and her boyfriend are getting married. They do not take this very well, especially when they find out their mom's boyfriend has kids that they've never even heard about. But there's something strange with the kids. Something strange with everyone...

The Land of Stories: The Wishing Well by Chris Colfer

Chris Colfer is an amazing author. This book was really exhilarating for me to read. It's another book about twins Conner and Alex who have been mourning the loss of their father. Their mother who is also very depressed from the death of her spouse is not able to celebrate her kids 12th birthday. So instead, the twins grandmother comes and celebrates Conner and Alex's birthday with them. Their grandma gives them a fairy tale book. However, it's not just an ordinary book. It's a portal between reality and a world of fairy tales. The twins go into the fictional world and explore the wonders of the fairy tale realm. They meet new friends and foes. This book is great for fantasy lovers to read.

Here is yet another good book that my sister recommended to me. This book really shows the love between siblings. Tella Holloway is a brave 16 year old girl who will do anything to cure her brother from his deadly illness. She joins the Brimstone Bleed, a competition with life-threatening events and biomes to win what she had been wanting for what seems like a lifetime: for her brother to live.

It's about 11 year old Max-Ernest and Cass who's dangerous adventure starts when Cass's mom goes out of town. Cass is left with her grandfathers (kind of) Larry and Wayne. One day, a real estate agent for the dead walks into a store with a box of some things left behind from a missing magician. There was one thing that Cass wanted to find out more about. So, the journey begins...

We read this book in class. The Outsiders is about Ponyboy and his brothers Sodapop and Darry. Their parents died, and they are now living on their own. Darry is a hard worker, and he will do anything to keep Ponyboy in school. Sodapop is a dropout. There are two main groups in their society: Socs and the Greasers. The Socs are the rich snobs of the community while the Greasers are more of the low-income, more intense part. Ponyboy and his gang are part of the Greasers. This book is full of action, and it is a great book for anyone who is into realistic/historical fiction.

I heard many great things about this book by several people. This twisted story revolves around Hannah Baker and why she ended her life. She made 7 tapes (all double sided) to call out people and things that led to her suicide. Clay Jensen was very shocked when he received these tapes. He began listening immediately to her story. This book was a mystery/thriller to me. MATURE CONTENT WARNING

My sister recommended this book to me, and to be honest, in the beginning, I wasn't quite following along with the story. The start of the novel begins by telling the tale of how a deadly disease wipes out 98% of children, and the surviving 2% are adapting dangerous abilities. Those with the strange abilities were set off to an internment camp where they are trained not to use their powers to keep everyone safe. This book got more interesting in the middle of the book, and it definitely gets sad at the end. Overall, this was a really exciting book. I really want to read the second book soon.
