During 1940-1975 the women's rights movement soon became a fight for equality against men. Regardless of skill, lower rates and wages were given to women workers in every industry and were held back from full participation because people believed men were more capable of the job. Women were seen as inferior to men and treated unfairly based on their sex. Problems with wage discrimination, strong tendencies of sexism and the unfair treatment involving the caste system have essentially caused the rise of a women's rights movement.

During the war there was a very high demand for women as the husbands, brothers, and fathers, were off fighting. Women were often found in factories and big plants during this time, as they produced war supplies for the men that were off fighting; working long hard hours with little to no breaks, for very little pay. Often times women would be worked so hard, that they would sometimes collapse right at their machine.
